Health & Safety is our fastest growing business division. With this in mind, we are now looking to recruit a new Trainee Lift Truck Trainer. This is a field-based role that will involve delivering training on our clients sites across the UK and from our centre in Cosham, Portsmouth. Due to the nature of this position, you will be required to stay overnight close to training locations.

This role is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week).

**Training and support**

This role is perfect for an experienced Lift Truck Operator who wants to take their next career step. As a training organisation, PETA is the perfect place to support you in your ambition to become a Trainer / Instructor. Working closely with our experienced Instructor, you will shadow training sessions to learn how to pass your skills.

Alongside your practical training, you will take attend a range of training sessions to help you develop your communication, presentation, and coaching skills.

PETA will support you to achieve your ITSAR accreditation.

**What will I need to succeed?**

To be successful as a Trainee Lift Truck Trainer, passion, attitude, and enthusiasm will be key. You must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 12 months experience as an operator to be approved for your ITSAR accreditation. Proven experience of the use of a range of mechanical handling equipment including counterbalance and reach training will be required.

A passion for health and safety will be key as you will need to develop the ability to deliver training sessions in a way that positively influences the development of a safety culture. Alongside your proven experience, you will also have the following skills and attributes:

- Clear communication skills to be able to convey complex information in a way that learners can understand
- The ability to be adaptable and solve problems
- Patience and empathy
- Full UK driving license as this role involves travelling to remote client sites

Proven experience of the use of overhead crane and slinging and lifting equipment would also be highly beneficial.

**What will I be responsible for?**

As you develop in to an accredited Lift Truck Trainer, you will be focused primarily on the delivery of Lift Truck courses Your role will include:

- Administering associated examinations/tests to determine operator competencies in accordance with award/regulatory body requirements.
- Updating & developing new courses and associated courseware to reflect changes in legislation and/or best practice
- Undertaking routine/periodical checks of the Lift Trucks, Racking and resources in compliance with the recommendations/requirements of the HSE/Legislation/Manufacturer
- Maintaining the general upkeep and housekeeping of the Lift Truck facility
- Maintaining records in compliance with organisational and external award body/agency standards
- Keeping up-to-date with new and related Lift Truck/Plant Operating/Safety development issues and legislation to increase personal knowledge, skill and experience in order to continually improve the training delivered
