**Job overview**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Haematology team at Salford Care Organisation as a trainee Advanced Care Practitioner. You will be supported with fully funded training to obtain your MSc in Advanced Practice.

The training programme is 24 months combining university lectures with work-based placements, providing you with many personal development opportunities. You will be supported by the dedicated Haematology team and have a Medical consultant mentor.

We are keen to appoint a trainee advanced practitioner with previous Haematology experience and clinical skills wishing to progress their career in this chosen specialist.

On completion of the ACP training the post will progress to Band 7 to Band 8a.

**Main duties of the job**:

- The post holder will practice under supervision as a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner to provide high quality patient centered care. This will utilise advanced assessment, diagnostic and treatment skills within an agreed scope of practice.
- The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will be responsible for rapid clinical assessment of unwell patients, and assessment of patients receiving chemotherapy. This will be on the Haematology unit, dedicated pre chemotherapy clinics and telephone consultations.
- The post holder will facilitate IV Iron clinics delivered on the Haematology unit.
- The post holder will have the opportunity to learn and develop practical procedural skills such as bone marrow biopsies and PICC line insertion.
- The post holder will have opportunity to attend the Non-medical authorisation of blood products course.
- The post holder will complete the Non-medical prescribing course and under supervision gain experience in prescribing chemotherapy.
- The post holder will be involved service development, driving, and supporting innovative changes in the management of Haematology patients
- The post holder will gain experience in patient reviews in out-patient clinics
- The post holder will be encouraged to partake in research and audit.

- Studied to BSC/Master level or Equivalent portfolio of evidence
- Five years post registration experience within nursing of which 3 years’ experience are within an acute hospital setting at a senior level preferably within the Haematology setting.
- Evidence of leading policy and practice change in line with Quality Improvement Programmes
- Experience and Evidence in delivering education at all levels.
- Evidence of extensive expert professional/clinical leadership and knowledge supplemented by specialist clinical training and CPD
- Effective communicator able to communicate complex and highly sensitive information
- Evidence of effective people management and leadership skills
- Evidence of relevant involvement in meeting the Trust clinical governance objectives

**Desirable criteria**:

- Post basic qualification in specialty (Hematology Medicine)
- NMP
