We are looking for a Communications and Engagement Assistant to help us with the future of engagement in policing. You’ll be part of a specialist digital team focused on developing the evidence on new ways to get messages out (making a difference both across the force and to the public), reviewing what does and doesn’t work across our digital engagement channels to make recommendations and improvements, as well as producing digital design and content. Working with the Channels Development Manager, you will have an eye for analysis to help bring our communications to the next level. **Job Purpose**:
Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:
1. Provide support for communications activity in defined areas of the department, and on specified areas of work.

2. Produce and publish written, film and photographic content in support of planned communications activity.

3. Support the development of force internal and external channels.

4. Contribute to effective planning processes in the department.

5. Carry out research and evaluation in support of communications activity.

6. Engage with staff and officers in force, and where required stakeholders outside of force, to gather information required by communications colleagues.

7. Help ensure communications databases, information, processes and systems are well organised, accessible and managed effectively.

8. Support the quality assurance of any information that is received, ensuring its accuracy. Evidence and escalate any identified issues and, where appropriate, give advice to support future improvement in the accuracy of what is provided.

9. Develop a basic understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures to support the delivery of communications activity.

10. Ensure that any information is disclosed to authorised personnel only.

11. To give regular and effective service.

**Essential Qualifications**:
Educated to Educated to QCF Level 2 (5 passes) OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.

**Essential Experience**:
Experience of working in a busy communications environment, undertaking communications officer level or administrative tasks to a high standard.
