Location: Road based, mainly in Hampshire, travelling to the shops and head office

**Salary**: £33,000 to £35,000, depending on experience

**Job Type**: Permanent role

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 9am to 5.30pm, 5 days per week, some Saturday working will be required

Skoolkit is a well-respected and growing family run business. We are a leading independent supplier of school wear, with stores in Basingstoke, Eastleigh, Fareham, Havant, Totton and Newbury, and a central distribution warehouse in Eastleigh.

Retail Area Manager - The Role:
As Skoolkit's Retail Area Manager, you would be responsible for managing and supporting the daily operations of our six stores to achieve the Company objectives by empowering, upskilling and assisting the Store Managers, promoting a customer focused culture and maximising sales and profit performance.

Retail Area Manager - Key Responsibilities:

- Responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the six Skoolkit stores, travelling between them for visibility and working closely with the Store Managers
- Managing the Store Managers, including monitoring performance and supporting with their development
- Carrying out probation reviews and appraisals, liaising with our outsourced HR team when required
- Accountability for ensuring a high level of customer service and customer satisfaction is achieved across all stores
- Responsibility for the recruitment, onboarding and induction training for Store Managers
- Accountability for succession planning for the stores including identifying and developing individuals with the potential for progression
- Supporting, upskilling and advising Store Managers
- Covering Store Managers during periods of holiday or sickness, if required. This will be more frequent during summer as the shops will need more support
- Discovering new business opportunities to increase each store's potential and profitability, including identifying new schools, products and ways of working and supporting the School Partnership Manager with school meetings
- Reporting on shop performance, stock issues, employee related issues and business development areas to the Directors
- Once established in the role, you may be required to review store sales reports, profit and loss reports, budgets and suggest ways to reduce costs
- Undertake other duties as required

Retail Area Manager - You:

- Previous experience in a similar role, or senior retail management experience
- Effective people management skills
- Passionate about delivering exceptional levels of customer service
- Commercially driven with robust problem-solving skills and ability to resolve issues
- Self-motivated, with ability to make decisions, prioritise and multitask
- Excellent communication skills with a professional manner and the ability to build and maintain strong, working relationships with a variety of colleagues, key stakeholders and outsourced resources
- A full UK driving license is essential
- Adaptable, with the ability to take the initiative
- IT literate. Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
