**Our vision, aims and values**
Our vision is to be the go-to charity in Wokingham, making a positive and lasting difference to the lives of people living and/or working in the Borough. We are a helping hand for people who need help navigating through life, helping them find a way forward with their problems.

**We encourage **trying new things and we support each other to figure it out. We question every idea to make it better and we adapt when things aren’t working.

**We’re approachable **we work together with stakeholders and partners to find the best way forward for our clients. We ensure that our services reach those who need us. We are transparent, honest and act with integrity. We welcome change and are not afraid to adapt.

**We’re confident**:

- we do what we say we’ll do and keep our promises. We remember that we work for a charity and use our resources effectively.

**Our principles and values**

As a member of the Citizens Advice service, Citizens Advice Wokingham (CAW) provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice and information to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination.

We are committed to putting equality and equity at the heart of everything that we do, with the overarching aim of being the go-to charity for anyone in our borough in need of help, to find a way forward. This means we look at improving access, treating people with empathy and promoting an inclusive working environment for all of our colleagues.

**How Citizens Advice Wokingham works**

In 2020/21 we helped more clients in Wokingham Borough than ever before - supporting 6,358 people to find a way forward - that’s around 1 in 20 adults in the area, and 98% more people helped than 2019/20.

Our small team of paid staff and large volunteer team do a brilliant job supporting our communities and supporting the charity to thrive. We provide free, high-quality advice, information and support on various issues, including welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment law, relationships & family and much more.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have provided the One Front Door for
Wokingham Borough, a central point of contact for any issues - where we provide our advice and information services and signposting to other charities for a range of problems. This has been a huge success, ensuring that people can get the help they need when they need it - answering 97% of calls each month since April, within seconds. In 2021 so far, we are currently the 16th highest performing Citizens Advice on Adviceline in the number of calls answered.

100% of our staff and volunteers said they would recommend this as a place to work or volunteer in our annual people survey in September 2021.

Our charity is at a significant crossroads - in our 43-year existence in
Wokingham, you can argue we’ve never been more needed in terms of demand.

Our work changes lives and has a significant impact on hundreds and thousands of people across our borough. We look forward to hearing from you.
