**Job summary**:
From the building the homes the country needs, unlocking opportunities for levelling up and regeneration across the UK, delivering a fairer deal for renters, landlords and leaseholders, to continuing our mission to end rough sleeping - DLUHC leads on high-profile government policies that dominate the national conversation. We need to communicate these complex policies to the media and the public - that is why we are recruiting press officers who can work at the same fast pace as our journalists to promote our announcements, to generate interesting news stories, react to breaking stories and defend our record of delivery.

We are a close knit, supportive press office team that works alongside digital and visits teams to create big media moments, as well as working very closely with campaigns teams, internal communications and ministerial offices. This role can be based at a number of regional offices but frequent travel to our London office will be required given this is a Ministerial facing role.** Out of hours working is a key feature of this role and you will be included on a duty rota for weekday evenings and weekends.**

- Produce high quality written work including proactive press releases and op-eds.
- Provide media handling advice to Ministers and Special Advisers on a range of reactive and proactive activity.
- Contribute creative ideas to communicate and promote the department’s policies.

**Person specification**:

- Sound judgement and a solid understanding of how the news cycle works, including knowledge of different media channels, including digital and consumer.
