Are you interested in learning a new skill? Then look no further, as sexual health Hertfordshire have a maternity leave vacancy within the Health Advising team as an administrative. This post is for a 1-year fixed term and based at Hatfield Sexual Health Clinic.

The Health Advising role is an essential role in aiding the smooth process of results management and plays a pivotal part in supporting the Health Advisors and patients alike. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate knowledge of Sexual Health & HIV services and ideally have an understanding and awareness of sexual health advising and results management. No previous experience is needed as training will be given.

33 hrs. a week Monday - Friday
- To provide a comprehensive, confidential and high quality administrative service to the Health Adviser Team.
- To act as the first point of contact for patients, members of the public, staff and representatives of external organisations, dealing with all enquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- To manage the results systems for Sexual Health Hertfordshire; liaising with patients and other members of the multi-disciplinary team as appropriate.
- Giving patients diagnoses of some specific sexually transmitted infections (STIs) over the telephone and answer basic questions, referring to a health adviser for further information or counselling as necessary.
- Supporting the attendance and treatment of patients and their contacts including recalling patients diagnosed with an infection and follow up of patients who have been treated.
- To carry out partner notification (PN) and to support the management of the PN process across the service ensuring the appropriate and timely attendance and treatment of sexual contacts.
- To support the maintenance of a robust recall system for patients accessing the service who require further intervention.

To be responsible for the management of all results into the service which involves:
Entering positive results accurately into patient records and interpreting the results in order to decide the appropriate follow up action

Checking patient notes to determine whether the patient has been appropriately treated, and if not to contact the patient and provide the appropriate appointment or recall action

Ensuring that positive results are actioned promptly and any missing results are followed up appropriately

To liaise with clinical colleagues to ensure results are reviewed and actioned, and undertake any further instructions as appropriate

To use the recall system to log and follow up any outstanding actions

Recording the associated actions on the Lilie system including appropriate documentation, follow-ups, recalls, and partner notification

Using the daily, weekly and paper results from the laboratory to input results and implement double checking procedures to ensure no result is missed.

To ensure SH24 checking procedures are in place, using their clinical system to check results and mark attendance, ensuring documentation and follow-ups are in place. To follow up partner notification as appropriate.

To manage the follow-up of any postal kits provided by the service, using the recall system to contact patients to ensure tests are received and results are recorded following the appropriate timing guidelines.

Liaising with the laboratory and other organisations such as SH24, Chlamydia Screening/ dual testing, ante natal-and other sexual health clinics

To provide cross clinic support within the service to ensure results are managed appropriately in the event of annual leave or sickness
