Senior Security Researcher

The Microsoft Security Response Center team (MSRC) is looking for researchers to join us in protecting Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) systems from threats to security and privacy.
MSRC is part of the defender community and on the front line of security response evolution. Our mission is to protect employees, customers, communities, and Microsoft from threats to privacy and security.
This role offers a unique opportunity to solve real-world security and privacy challenges, through cutting-edge scientific research, informed by vulnerability data from production AI/ML systems, leading to mitigations that can be deployed at Microsoft and beyond.

**Responsibilities**:
- Investigating new security and privacy vulnerabilities in AI/ML systems;
- Designing scalable mitigations for threats to AI/ML systems, and working with product groups to drive these into product features;
- Analyzing and assessing the severity of reported vulnerabilities;
- Identifying new research opportunities based on vulnerability trends;
**Qualifications**:
**Required***:
- Track record of relevant research, as evidenced by high-quality research outputs (e.g., code and/or publications);
- Appropriate background and familiarity with recent research in security and privacy for AI/ML;
- Software development skills and experience;
- Creative and collaborative approach to problem-solving;
**Preferred**:
- PhD or equivalent research experience;
Experience with security and privacy topics in addition to AI/ML (e.g., web security, systems security, etc.);
**Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
