Are you experienced in VAT, able to tackle any complex issue? Are you looking for a role that you can make your own? Do you enjoy building processes from scratch, while business partnering with other departments?

Manage the development and maintenance of UK VAT policies, procedures and controls in the context of wider group VAT compliance framework, for the different areas of the group companies, including:

- Validation and maintenance of data for VAT returns.
- Development and management of the group’s VAT tool software, ensuring compliance with Making Tax Digital.
- Manage the relationship with VAT tool software provider(s) and IT personnel handling relevant internal systems.
- Manage the relationship with Central VAT team and external advisors, to optimise the UK VAT position.
- Seek, implement and encourage a culture of continuous process improvement, including the testing of VAT processes, identification, communication and timely remediation of control weaknesses.
- To provide ad-hoc advice to key management in respect of VAT matters.
- Manage the cross border VAT processes, including foreign VAT registrations, ensuring the processes and controls meet the overseas VAT compliance requirements.
- Identify and implement opportunities to increase VAT recovery.
- Lead the VAT relationship with HMRC to ensure that all VAT enquiries and disclosures are resolved efficiently and in a timely manner, in order to bring the VAT risk rating down to “low”.
- Pro-actively analyse the VAT implications of changes in tax legislation and advising key management of the impact and solutions.
- To directly assist in the review of legal documentation for VAT related matters.
- Line manage one direct report (Experience not required)
