Job Introduction
An opportunity has arisen for a Performance Lead who can be based in any National Grid site of their choice, but with an expectation to travel to other sites when the role requires. This can be discussed on the day of the interview.
The Performance Lead is a pivotal role in supporting the shaping of the company's strategic direction, optimising performance outcomes, and contributing to a culture of excellence and growth. The role is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the organisation's performance management process. This will involve refreshing the NGED Performance Contract which outlines the company’s strategic direction for the upcoming year, updating the group executive on business performance through the monthly business review, and closely monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
- You may initially be appointed on a lower salary until the successful completion of all relevant training.
If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.
Main Responsibilities
- Performance Contract Refreshing: Work closely with executives and department heads to update the annual performance contract. This contract outlines the company's strategic priorities, goals, and performance expectations for the upcoming year. Ensure the contract is comprehensive, aligned with the company's strategic objectives, and actionable.
- Monthly Business Review Update: Collaborate with relevant departments to gather performance data and insights. Using this information, update the monthly business review report, highlighting achievements, challenges, and trends. Communicate the report to senior management and stakeholders, facilitating data-driven decision-making.
- Key Performance Indicator Tracking: Identify, define, and track key performance indicators that measure progress towards the goals outlined in the performance contract. Develop tracking mechanisms, set targets, and regularly assess performance against benchmarks. Provide insights and recommendations for adjustments as needed.
- Performance Analysis: Analyse performance data to uncover patterns, trends, and opportunities for improvement. Provide actionable insights to management, supporting evidence-based decision-making.
- Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that KPIs and performance initiatives align with the company's overall strategy. Regularly assess whether performance metrics contribute to the achievement of broader business objectives.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts to enhance the performance management process. Identify gaps, propose improvements, and implement streamlined procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy in performance reporting and analysis.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders at various levels to understand their performance-related needs and challenges. Provide guidance, address concerns, and offer solutions to improve performance outcomes.
- Communication and Reporting: Communicate performance updates, insights, and recommendations through clear and concise reports, presentations, and visualizations. Ensure that performance-related information is accessible and understandable to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven experience in performance management, data analysis, and strategic planning.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, performance management software, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical mind-set and the ability to derive insights from complex datasets.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to summarise complex data.
- Strong ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
