**Overall Purpose of Post**

To establish, develop and support existing Community Hubs that offer provision and support for young people with Neuro Development needs and their families in Chesterfield and the surrounding areas of mid Derbyshire.

**Responsibilities and Duties**

To be responsible for providing support,1:1 information and advice through booked appointments and drop-in sessions in the Community Hubs for young people who are Neuro Divergent and their families.

To lead and support parent/carer support groups, drop-in centres and booked appointments with families.

To ensure the hubs hold relevant, up to date information for attendees and information to facilitate signposting to other services where necessary.

To ensure facilities and equipment are well maintained and fit for purpose through regular health and safety checks and that the venues are suitable for neurodiverse clients.

To ensure policies and procedures and those specific to the hubs are followed and to be involved in regular policy reviews and risk assessments.

To assist the Hub and Volunteer Coordinator to run information and networking days for the Hub volunteers.

To gather data and produce reports evaluating the success of the Community Hubs.

To be aware of local and national initiatives regarding issues relating to children and young people with neurological conditions.

To attend training sessions relevant to the post and to help organise training sessions when and where appropriate with the relevant agencies.

To comply with Health & Safety requirements and specifically to take reasonable care of themselves and other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work (Health & Safety Act 1974) and other relevant employment legislation and Fairplay policies.

To carry out any other duties appropriate to the post, as designated by the Chief Executive and Hub Board of Trustees.

**Person Specification Neurodevelopmental Support Advisor**

**Qualifications**

Applicants will ideally hold NVQ Level 3 or above in a related field, or will have significant experience of working with children and young people who are Neurodiverse.

**Essential Criteria**

Experience of working with families with complex needs in partnership with other statutory/ voluntary agencies

Experience of working with young people who have neurological conditions

Knowledge of Safeguarding Children guidelines

Knowledge of disability issues

Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team

Ability to produce reports and risk assessments using IT skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and a high degree of discretion

Ability to develop and maintain relationships

Ability to travel

**Desirable Criteria**:
Knowledge of Statutory organisations and the role they play in supporting children and young people who are Neurodivergent.

**Other Requirements**:
Ability to work flexibly including some evenings, weekends and school holidays

Ability to travel - mileage expenses will be paid

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: £11,296.26 per year
