An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join the Trauma and Orthopaedic nursing team. We are looking for a qualified nurse who wishes to further their career and to join our existing team.

The post is for 36 hours per week on a permanent contract. The successful post holder will be required to work over a 7 day week.

You will be working closely with the Ward Leader and deputising in her absence.

The role will require you to be able to work on wards that are designated as COVID-19 asymptomatic and positive.

The post holder will support the ward manager in all aspects of ward management. They will have a key role in co-ordinating and developing the nursing team and ensuring that patients receive the required standard of care. They will support the ward manager in ensuring all staff comply with Trust policies and professional and legal standards.

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care of patients in accordance with their clinical pathway and individual
- Liaise with patients and their families on a daily basis and deal efficiently with their questions or
- Ensure that nursing care delivered within the ward is compliant with legal, professional and organisational
- Supervise and direct the work of more junior staff.
- Manage the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager, co-ordinating the activities of the ward team and deploying resources
- Participate in the directorate senior nurse bleep rota as required dealing with emergency/urgent situations, the redeployment of staff and giving advice to staff on other wards as the need
- Ensure that effective communication is maintained both within the ward itself and with relevant external agencies or
- Organise own workload and adjust priorities in response to issues arising in the workplace.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to issues which require urgent or immediate attention, reporting to other members of the multidisciplinary-management team as necessary
