This role will also enable you to lead on the decarbonisation strategies along with the operational delivery of the transformation excellence model based on establishing a top quartile performance. Babergh and Mid Suffolk are two District Councils in Suffolk, covering a primarily rural area with a few small market towns. **About the role**

This role is responsible for the strategy and operational delivery of asset investment programmes and projects and the delivery of all asset compliance and related health and safety activities across both councils.

In this important role, you will:

- Oversee and lead a team of specialist asset, compliance, and health and safety employees.
- Develop and review the Asset Management Strategy and develop/implement/monitor operational service plans to ensure its delivery.
- Lead on the development and implementation of decarbonisation strategies and plans, including maximising grant availability.

**About you**

We are looking for an innovative and motivational leader with proven senior management experience in leading an investment and compliance service, developing and delivering service innovation and someone who possesses a strong commercial bias.

It is desirable that you:

- Have gained a NEBOSH general certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or IOSH Managing Safely Certificate.
- Possess or are willing to study for an ABBE Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management.
- Are a member of CIOB or RICS.

You will also need to be comfortable in complex political environments, highly commercial with in-house and external contracts and able to work strategically and influentially on vital partnerships with residents, businesses, wider stakeholders, and other parts of the Councils.

This role is based remotely with the expectation of 2 days working from either Stowmarket or Wenham

We can offer a competitive annual leave entitlement, increasing from 1st April 2023 to 24 days and 2 statutory days, a total of 26 days for those with less than 5 years’ service, increasing to 31 days after 5 years’ service.

Employers pension contribution is around 23%, with employee contribution between 5% and 12.5% depending on salary.
