Housing Benefit Administrator

**Salary** £23,979 pro rata
Emerging Futures delivers ground-breaking projects nationally including substance misuse recovery services, coaching, and volunteering opportunities, behaviour change programmes and housing to vulnerable adults.
As the Housing Benefit Administrator, you will support our administration and housing team to ensure Housing Benefit claims are submitted in a timely manner, payments are received and updated on our client management system, and to pursue any HB claims that become overdue. You will support teams to complete claims and act as a main point of contact between Housing Benefit and Emerging Futures.
You should have knowledge of the current benefit provision available including but not limited to Housing Benefit, Universal Credit, Limited Capability for Work-Related Activity, PIP, and ESA.
It is essential you are extremely organised, have high levels of IT skills and attention to detail, and a willingness to work flexibly as part of a team.
- **What you will be doing**_
- Regularly monitoring of the Housing Benefit portal to ensure claims are in payment and to follow up promptly any claims that are becoming overdue.
- Acting as the first point of contact for any Housing Benefit queries for our Cheshire East housing projects.
- Regularly monitoring of our client recording system, InForm, to ensure payments and charges are accurate and up to date.
- Supporting the staff teams to ensure claims are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Reporting any financial concerns directly to our finance team.
- Liaising with Housing Benefit regarding any housing benefit decision appeals.
- Supporting the Housing & Business Administrator and Regional Business Coordinator to develop effective processes and procedures surrounding Housing Benefit.
- **Some of the skills, knowledge and experience you will have**_
- Experience of coordinating and managing Housing Benefit claims, income maximization and working with local statutory agencies to resolve financial issues.Experience of maintaining data bases and other data management systems.
- A clear understanding of confidentiality and boundaries.
- Experience of general office procedures and administrative duties.
- Evidenced expertise in working with WORD, EXCEL, and ACCESS IT packages.
- Ability to construct well-formed reports and effectively use data collection systems and translate data output in to meaningful, clear information.
- Willingness to be a central part of a multidisciplinary team and take the lead on ensuring administrative systems are effectively and used correctly.
- Employ a mature, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude towards our stakeholders
