Retail Shop Assistant

Part time positions available at Carters Premier Stores branches.

Due to licensing restrictions, applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old.

Carters Convenience Stores in Torbay are currently recruiting for friendly, keen & courteous Shop Assistants to work in our Stores.

As a local family run business, we expect our staff to offer excellent customer service, and to make our customers come back time and time again. You will need to be confident, punctual, and positive, adhere to upselling targets, and assist your other team members and Carters management in running a successful store.

Key Responsibilities;
- Delivering the best service locally when operating a till
- Merchandising stock onto the shelves to deliver the best availability to our customers
- Rotating stock to ensure legal compliance and to minimize store wastage
- Assisting customers by answering any questions positively and enthusiastically
- Processing and checking deliveries, including dealing with any issues arising to ensure zero errors and maximum stock/store efficiency
- Follow security rules/guidance to help reduce shrinkage in the Store
- Ensure all activities undertaken are in compliance with policy and procedures
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the Store ensuring that all working areas are kept clean and tidy for both customers and colleagues and help with general cleaning of the Store.
- Participate in Store promotions/activities as required
- Be confident and follow the store rules/procedures regarding upselling
- Follow Carters strict Challenge 25 Policy
- Learn to open/close the Store (key holder duties)
- General shop assistant duties
- Follow COVID 19 rules/policy

Key Experience, Knowledge and Skills;
- Previous experience in retail if possible
- Courteous and helpful
- Good communication skills and the desire to give our customers an enjoyable shopping experience
- Able to comply with defined process and procedures
- Genuine enthusiasm for customer service
- Flexibility and positive attitude
- Be clean and presentable at all times (staff Polo Shirts & Fleeces are provided on completion of probationary period)

Part-time hours: 12-28 per week

**Salary**: £10.42 per hour
