**About the role**:
We want to harness the transformative value of Data to help us make better decisions, make an impact and inspire activity. This hands-on role will be responsible for executing our Board-sponsored Data Strategy and delivering a roadmap of initiatives. The role will use technical excellence and architectural insight to lead our Data and Analytics function and the data-led evolution of our business.

**What are we looking for?**

You are a hands-on technical Data expert who will grow our data capabilities. Youre experienced at developing robust data platforms and leading data engineering and analytics teams to deliver high-quality, safe and compliant data solutions. You understand the commercial drivers for change but can also get into the technical detail to deliver business value.

Your team will comprise of internal Data engineering and analytics teams, and 3rd party and outsourcing partners. Youll achieve high performance and an efficient delivery cadence through your pragmatic knowledge of agile and servant-leadership.

You will lead the architecture, governance, and engineering of our core data platform with accountability for our databases, API integrations, building automated ingest and curation data pipelines, and using Azure cloud services to hydrate our core data system and downstream systems used for key business functions and analytics.

Our core data is brought into Azure, where we leverage services like Data Lake Storage, SQL Managed Instances, DataFactory, LogicApps, FunctionApps, and we code in SQL and Python. We are also keen to introduce Snowflake as a technology to broaden our analytics capabilities and you will be instrumental in delivering the buildout of this extension to our platform.

You will be reporting into the Director of Digital and Technology and coming into a friendly D&T team who share our values and genuinely want to achieve our vision of **_Inspiring Activity_**.

You will collaborate as a trusted partner across various function including Digital Product Teams, Marketing team, Partnership teams, our IT function and our Charities team who support the thousands of Charities that we work with.

**Key areas of responsibility**:

- Lead the definition and execution of LMEs data architecture and strategic roadmap that delivers business objectives.
- Oversee the growth of our data assets; increase in data volumes, data quality and data types, data ingestion sources, key integration partnerships and rapid prototyping of early adoption technologies that drive business value.
- Communicate and present a strategic view of progress at regular leadership, technical steering and Governance forums with an ability to articulate our journey towards our North Star.
- With support from HR and Finance business partners, own the resource management, budgeting, and cost management across the Data function.
- Collaborating with business units across the organisation to deliver a best-in-class data platform providing low-cost, actionable insights and to drive data-driven improvements across the organisation.
- Lead the introduction of a clear data governance framework and Implement an Agile SDLC framework for deployment of data solutions.
- Develop and mentor direct and skip-level reports in the Data Engineering, Data Science and Analytics functions, and lead engagements with external outsource and strategic partners.
- Set standards regarding methodologies, technologies, best practices, and production of high quality, well tested code deployed via CI/CD tooling.
- Be a thought leader and help the business discover key insight through high-fidelity BI dashboards and Data Science Insight reports.
