Come and join our exciting and dynamic Children and Young People’s Therapy team.

We are recruitingtwoChildren and Young People’s Physiotherapy Assistants to join the Children and Young People’s Integrated Therapy Team based in Aylesbury. You will be joining an experienced team of Physiotherapists and therapy assistants to deliver a service to children and young people from the ages of 0 - 19 across health and education.

You will have the opportunity to work directly with children and young people and their families in a wide range of community settings including clinics, schools, nurseries and the clients home to support the delivery of physiotherapy programmes and interventions under the direction of the Physiotherapist.

You will work with the therapists to gain knowledge in specialist equipment provision such as walking aids and standing frames and support the moving and handling and postural management of the children and young people who require support due to their physical disabilities.

You will be part of the wider therapy and multi-agency Children and Young People’s Services including Paediatricians, school nurses and Health Visitors. We have a well-developed competency based training package with clinical and safeguarding supervision to support staff development.

Each post is for22.5 hoursover3 days. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed. Car driver essential. Previous experience working with children and young people preferable/highly desirable.
- To be an integral member of the Children and Young Peoples (CYP) Integrated Therapy Team.
- Provision of clinical and administrative support to the Physiotherapy team.
- Responsible for delivering aspects of clinical management with direct and indirect supervision from qualified physiotherapists.
- Implementation and progression of interventions for CYP including group delivery in a variety of settings including mainstream schools & Nurseries, special schools, clinics & child’s own home without direct supervision.
- To document evaluate and liaise with qualified physiotherapist following specific interventions.
- Support the physiotherapy team to deliver training to parents and the wider workforce.
- Act as a technical recourse to the Physiotherapy team in relations to provision of equipment.
- To be responsible for completion of nonclinical tasks with in the CYP Physiotherapy service.

- To undertake designated assessments and treatments with CYP as delegated by the qualified physiotherapists. To deliver individual and group interventions with or without direct supervision in a variety of settings including mainstream schools & Nurseries, clinic & child’s own home across the county of Buckinghamshire.
- To plan and provide timely interventions within the framework established by the therapists and to communicate results back to the therapist.
- To undertake advanced manual handling techniques involving complex patients and or equipment following appropriate training, in line with organisational and departmental policies and procedures.
- To be responsible for the safe and competent use of all appropriate equipment and report any safety issues using the correct procedures.
- To support qualified physiotherapists and prepare resources to enable children to complete therapy interventions in accordance with departmental pathways, trust policies.
- To liaise with product manufacturers, local Equipment Store and specialist technicians regarding the ordering, delivery and collection and of therapeutic equipment on behalf of the qualified therapists.
- To carryout any other non-clinical tasks which are fitting with the other elements of this post and in line with CYP Physiotherapy care and department objectives.
- To give and receive information with tact and diplomacy when working with CYP their families to establish an effective therapeutic relationship.
