Senior Public Health Assistant

Senior Public Health Assistants work closely with, assist and support the Health Visiting team to deliver the Healthy Child Programme, improving health outcomes for individuals, families and the community providing an accessible, appropriate, culturally sensitive, safe, person centred and effective service for children, young people and families in the community, by working in partnership with service users, care providers and other agencies.
You'll be required to understand & identify healthy normal growth & development in children from 0-5 years which is monitored through Health and wellbeing reviews and promote completion of the Ages & Stages questionnaire, (ASQ. TM) and will have an understanding of child development and play and the importance of play in children's lives and learning, language development, special educational needs and disability.
You'll participate in the care of clients / families under the direction of a senior members of the Health Visiting team, considering the lifestyle, race, gender and cultural background, and factors which impact on physical, mental or emotional health using the principles of the Family Partnership Programme.
The work will be facilitated, supervised and supported by senior members of the Health Visiting team and will include the following key activities:
Complete health and wellbeing reviews, packages of care and other appropriate interventions for children and families within the Universal, targeted and specialist caseloads as delegated by a senior member of the Health Visiting team, escalating any concerns identified to the appropriate Health Visitor.
Growth monitoring for children aged 0-5 years
Refer & sign posting families to a range of appropriate services to support their needs, including the children's' centres, Community paediatricians and the wider multi agency teams as required.
Complete client records to a high and consistent standard, in line with policy and procedures
Deliver health promotion activities which can positively improve health and wellbeing to clients / families on line, in the home and in community settings
Lead and assist with the delivery of a variety of Health Visiting clinics
Participate in the delivery of group work as appropriate to local need e.g. Parenting programmes, introducing solids and Breastfeeding groups.
Provide support for clients / families to enable them to access services and support such as voluntary groups, Children’s Centres, Early Help.
Provide support as required to Health Visiting team colleagues to ensure a welcoming service for clients/families, staff, partners and visitors across the service.
