**Role**:Head of Accounting - Finance, permanent

**Report to**:SVP for Accounting Operations with a dotted line to the Head of Finance for the UK.

**Hours**: Full time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

**Salary**: starting from £80,000 pa, dependent on experience and qualifications, plus an excellent benefits package, and annual bonuses.

**Location**: Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxford OX14 4SA, UK.

**Our Company**

This role offers the flexibility of hybrid or office-based with the main location in the UK in Abingdon. National travel to the Alderley Park site and some infrequent international travel is also expected.

**Role and Responsibilities for our Head of Accounting (UK)**

You will be responsible for the accounting of the UK entities within the Evotec Group - Evotec (UK) Limited, Cyprotex Limited, Cyprotex Discovery Limited, Aptuit (Oxford) Limited, Aptuit (Potters Bar) Limited. The UK group operates from two locations: Milton Park in Oxfordshire and Alderley Park in Alderley Edge.
- Leadership - lead, supervise, develop, manage, and support accounting team.
- Managing all day-to-day accounting operations - General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Ensuring local closing for all UK entities is performed monthly and on time.
- Reporting meets compliant standards with statutory law and financial regulations.
- Working closely with Group Accounting in the Headquarters to ensure they are fully aware of technical matters such that group able to provide guidance on relevant matters.
- Documenting business processes and ensuring SOX compliance.
- Streamlining, improving, and optimising business processes.
- Coordinating the management of cash flow, debt, and debt collection.
- Overseeing the audit process and liaising with external personnel where required.
- Support the business with the financial strategy and decision-making processes.
- Ensuring completion of UK VAT returns on a timely basis.
- Preparing UK Corporation tax computations and liaising with our external tax advisors.
- Reviewing R&D tax calculations and working with operations to gather relevant information.

**Skills & Competencies (essential)**
- Leadership skills essential: clear communicator, effective motivator with experience of managing a team.
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills, with a business process mindset, seeking to continually optimise processes.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance under US regulations would be highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of UK tax system - understanding of R&D relates tax regulations would be beneficial.
- Independently minded and critical - capable of analysing numbers critically and drawing out relevant conclusions.
- Accurate, reliable and highly organised. Strong interpersonal negotiation and inter-cultural communications skills and a team player.
- A strong, collaborative, and balanced personality.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight timelines and to act on own initiative when required.
- Proven project leadership and line management within UK environment is essential for this role.

**Education, Qualifications and Experience**
- Qualified Accountant with at least three years post qualification experience.
- Proven track record in managing a finance team of more than 10 individuals.
- Familiar with working in an international environment.
