**Role Outline**

This is a pivotal role in developing our new direct marketing programme. The role will develop and deliver engaging communications, manage appeals, and commit to fantastic supporter care.

This role will lead on the engagement and promotion of the following income streams; individual giving, lottery, and in-memory giving, with the ability to project manage multiple campaigns across a range of channels, including digital.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work with the Communications Manager to develop and deliver a new direct marketing programme to increase reach and engagement, maximising income potential
- Develop engaging and persuasive donor communication and other marketing collateral to support the promotion of supporter-giving opportunities
- Work closely with external stakeholders e.g. suppliers such as designers, printers, mailing houses in the delivery of supporter communications
- Provide a supporter experience that increases conversion and retention and builds long-term loyalty to the charity
- Deliver robust, organic lottery recruitment, individual giving and in memoriam giving strategy
- Ensure all campaigns and communications are delivered considering insights, following brand guidelines and within budget
- Update marketing channels to inspire and support marketing activity with informative inspiring copy
- Work closely with the Communications Manager and Income Generation Manager to monitor income and assist with budgeting
- Work closely with the communications team to build brand awareness by growing social media presence, including scheduling posts and analysing metrics

**Experience and Qualifications**

**ESSENTIAL**

Experience in a direct marketing, digital or marketing role.

Experience working with case studies and service users, with an understanding of how to drive engagement and response through story-telling

Understanding of supporter journeys and the role of different channels in delivering a fully integrated campaign

**DESIRABLE**

Worked or volunteered in a charity

**Knowledge and Understanding**

**ESSENTIAL**

Solid understanding of the requirements of the main digital platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Mailchimp) and experience of producing and optimising content for these

Deliver excellent stewardship of donors, particularly with regards to thanking and ensuring that objectives around retention are met.

**DESIRABLE**

Knowledge and understanding of how people are affected by sight loss

Knowledge of Fundraising Regulator and Data Protection/GDPR principles, and other relevant law and best practice guidance

**Skills and Abilities**

**ESSENTIAL**

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to different audiences through various channels

Persuasive and effective written style with an eye for detail and the ability to connect with a variety of audiences and confidence to proof-read accurately

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret campaign analytics and apply

insights to improve future performance

Knowledge and experience of using CRM databases for segmentation and targeting

Proven ability to be organised, using time management skills to meet deadlines

Project management skills with careful attention to detail and can manage multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to communicate appropriately with target audiences
