**JOB SUMMARY**:
To provide specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for individuals experiencing first episode psychosis, within an established Early Intervention in Psychosis team in the West Cheshire.
The role will also involve providing consultation/ supervision for multi-disciplinary staff in the area of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for psychosis.

**LIAISES WITH**:
Multidisciplinary Team, trust and related agencies such as health, education, social care, voluntary and community sector and client families.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- To complete comprehensive assessment for clients referred for psychological therapy.
- To use information gathered during assessment to formulate and implement disorder specific individualised interventions, based upon NICE recommendations, including specific cognitive behavioural models for individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis, bipolar disorder or for those at risk of developing a first episode of psychosis.
- To clearly communicate this plan with clients, the multidisciplinary staff team and were appropriate family members.
- To exercise professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients in line with clinical guidance and service policies.
- To demonstrate a high degree of professional autonomy in the implementation of clinical assessments, treatment and evaluation.
- To manage own specialist caseload effectively to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
- To develop and share cognitive behavioural formulations with the client, staff involved in their care and where relevant their family members.
- To convey said formulations with sensitivity and in a manner that is easily understood by the client, through, for example, suitably adapting language used or how formulation is presented.
- To constantly assess and monitor risk, and where necessary feeding back any changes to care coordinators and updating risk management plans.
- To regularly review and evaluate CBT interventions.
- To discharge clients upon completion of an adequate trial of treatment or when clients goals have been achieved.
- To ensure ethical and legal standards are maintained, for example explaining and adhering to client confidentiality protocols.
- To maintain security and confidentiality of case notes.
- To assess suitability for and to provide family interventions where formulation highlights a need.
- To involve family members and/ or the clients wider support system in interventions where appropriate.
- To share formulations with members of the multidisciplinary team who are working alongside the client.
- To communicate effectively with clients who may be in a highly distressed or aroused state.
- To attend multi-disciplinary team meetings to discuss referrals and/ or treatment progress.
- Complete all requirements related to data collection/ audit within the service.
- To, where appropriate, liaise with a range of health and social care staff and outside agencies.
- To develop and facilitate group based therapy.
- To work across a range of clinical and community settings, including outpatient clinics, hospital wards, statutory/ voluntary organisations as well as within clients own homes within the West Cheshire locality.
