Fabrication Supervisor

**Purpose of Role**

To supervise and manage the operation with regards to project delivery and resources, working within project requirements reporting directly to the Fabrication Engineer. Ensuring compliance with Health Safety, Environmental and Quality standards and legislation. Working within budgetary and financial constraints to ensure project deliverables are met and compliance with company procedures.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- To supervise employees on specific jobs within their own discipline.
- To manage other disciplines within the area of the fabrication hall and when necessary, the external facility
- To control stop / starts
- To assist in processing requests within production departments for the recruitment of temporary/ permanent staff.
- To allocate jobs to the workforce, giving detailed instructions and setting clear achievement targets in-line with project and specific production/planning requirements.
- Monitor progress on jobs and expenditure, identifying problems and taking appropriate corrective action.
- Report progress on targets, identifying and reporting problems.
- Understand, implement and ensure all quality standards, regulatory requirements and that client specifications are adhered to.
- Meet with Section Leaders/Fabrication Engineer to agree labour loading requirements and allocation of labour to projects, discussing technical issues.
- Attend project planning / start up meetings to understand & implement the project plan when required.
- Attend weekly meetings with Fabrication Engineer/Project Managers to provide general progress update, and discuss safety issues, problems, priorities and co-ordination of work.
- Liaise with Section Leaders, Fabrication Engineer, Project Managers, other Project Team members and other departments as necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of the position.
- Carry out site / task risk assessment prior to commencement of work to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure that safety procedures are implemented and workforce is aware of any potential hazards or safety issues
- Review safety on an ongoing basis and take corrective action where necessary.
- On commencement of new employee or new agency labour, carry out induction of workplace, facilities etc.
- When appropriate, identify individuals to be paid off and supply list to the Fabrication Engineer.
- On pay off of labour: ensure that locker key, company tools, clothing etc. have been handed over on relevant forms; complete the evaluation sheet and forward it to the HR department
- Ensure that shift handover sheets are completed and transferred to relevant person by 13.00 each day during the front shift. Submission of handover sheets for other shifts (when applicable) are submitted at agreed times with the Fabrication Engineer.
- Complete job costing sheet to the correct contract and job, returning them to the Payroll department
- Arrange alternative shift patterns and overtime after consultation with other Section Leaders /Fabrication Engineer, informing employees appropriately.
- Application of the Company Disciplinary Procedure.
- Identify training needs.
- Liaise with Section Leaders/Fabrication Engineer/Project Managers on items of plant equipment and materials required to project commencement and arising during projects.
- Initiate Purchase Requisitions for items of plant equipment and materials to meet project requirements
- Ensure that all employees are aware of systems for collecting and returning items to tool stores and carry them out.

Ensure subcontractors are working to project requirements and liaise with the Fabrication Engineer/Project Managers.
