**Description: Through a new and exciting partnership with Bishop Young Academy with **The Leeds United Foundation, we are seeking to appoint an Attendance & Behaviour Officer, who is _enthusiastic, self-motivated and dedicated_ individual who would like the opportunity to make a real difference to children’s lives. - A successful track record of working with learners and parents/carers to improve outcomes for attendance, behaviour and attitudes for learning and progress/attainment
- Experience of analysing and using data about learner outcomes for attendance and behaviour to identify, implement and monitor the impact of appropriate actions and interventions
- Experience of working collaboratively with multi-agency professionals (e.g. health, social care) to improve outcomes for children
- Highly developed influencing skills to persuade learners, parents, colleagues, and external agencies to adopt particular courses of action.
- Commitment to work in partnership with parents and the community

**Main areas of responsibility**:
You will work across all pastoral teams to undertake the responsibilities of managing the learning, progress and attainment of students requiring significant intervention, at risk of exclusion or as part of internal exclusion, alongside managing attendance at whole school level, these aspects will work in conjunction with the pastoral responsibilities of support, care, and guidance. Part of the role would also involve working to develop whole school initiatives that maintain and boost student achievement and attendance. You will be tasked with investigating cases of prolonged student absences and develop and implement intervention strategies to support identified individuals to progress back into education with the aim to improve attendance and behaviour.
Additionally, you will contribute to all aspects of students’ wellbeing and achievement, using the key outcomes of the “Every Child Matters” agenda as a basis for their work.

This involves a primary focus on ensuring that every child achieves their learning potential by breaking down any barriers to learning and achievement.
**Principal Actions and Accountability**:
- To contribute to raising achievement by improving school attendance.
- To provide a specialist service to assist the school in meeting their obligations and targets in relation to school attendance, especially persistent absence.
- To promote positive attitudes by students and families towards education and to ensure that parents are made fully aware of their statutory responsibilities.
- Working independently and proactively to assess the needs of each individual student referred by the School in order to provide mentoring, guidance and counselling support to bring about positive social, mental and emotional development and wellbeing.
- Devising and implementing appropriate behaviour strategies to support students to positively modify their behaviour
- Raising aspirations and standards including behaviour and attendance for students who are disengaged, isolated, presenting challenging behaviour or who are at risk of exclusion
- Providing support for students and parents/carers at times of change and helping students to develop strategies to deal with the stress and impact these issues may have on their education.
- Contributing to the delivery of alternative timetables for those students facing exclusion, requiring intervention or additional support.
