As a member of Friern Barnet Medical Centre, the successful applicant will help deliver admin and reception services in order to support high standards of patient care.

They will be responsible for the general administrative and reception functions within the Practice. Working within set routines, policies and procedures to provide a comprehensive high-quality service to the practice, and able to deal efficiently and courteously with patient enquiries.

**About us**

The GP Practice is managed by the Practice Manager, Operations Manager, 2 Practice Partners and Clinical QI Lead. Additional team members include 10 GP’s (including the partners & QI lead), 2 FY2 Doctors, Practice Nurse, 2 Healthcare Assistants, 2 Care Coordinators, 2 Reception Managers, Senior administrator, 5 Receptionists. We also have a highly skilled ARRS team which include; First Contact Practioners’, Clinical Pharmacist, Social Prescribers and Mental Health Worker.

**Who we’re looking for**
- Previous administration/receptionist experience in a similar setting and ideally in a GP Practice.
- Experienced in providing information and advice to patients/relatives.
- The ability to exercise judgement when dealing with patient enquiries /problems.
- Excellent Computer Skills.
- Knowledge of EMIS web clinical system
- The ability to manage own workload and act independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High degree of accuracy with regard to patient correspondence and filing.
- The ability to assist with training and development of new members of the administration team.
- Sensitivity and empathy with people from different backgrounds.
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
- Ability to work without close supervision.
- The ability to work to a professional standard

**Responsibilities**:

- To answer the telephone promptly and deal with enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner, being aware of the need to maintain confidentiality at all times regarding patients and staff.
- Open/close the practice at the beginning and end of each day and follow the opening and closing procedures
- Booking, cancelling, amending patients appointments using EMIS web clinical software
- To maintain a good rapport/relationship between internal and external customers of the Practice at all times.
- To have an overview of the demands and workflow of the Practice during the working day.
- To book/cancel and amend patients appointments using the clinical system
- Ensure the waiting area/reception front desk is kept tidy and keep forms and patient information stocked up where possible.
- Arranging appointments for patients reviews as part of QOF management
- Register new patients living within our catchment area (Within 1 mile radius)
- Dealing with internal and external clinical post
- To reach practice targets by asking patients to complete the patient friends and family surveys
- Patient engagement - proactively inform patients of benefits for signing up to the online services where patients can book appointments, order repeat prescription and view their medical record.
- Effectively signpost patients to services appropriate to their needs
- Scanning and action the clinical correspondence as per GP instructions into the patients’ medical records
