Term time only (38 weeks). A set number of holiday days (for Holiday Clubs) will be required. Additional training days may be requested.

**Salary**: £12 - £13 per hour dependent on qualification

**Responsible to**: Managers - Jenna and Amy Mackintosh

**Post to start**: Week Beginning 2nd September 2024(Additional Training days and Children settling sessions 27th August - 1st September) with the possibility of starting sooner

**A little about us**:
We are a popular outdoor nursery and Forest School run by Jenna and Amy Mackintosh (2 qualified teachers and Forest School leaders) in Scarisbrick, West Lancashire. Our nursery is based within our 20 acre woodland where we have 2 ‘camps’, Camp Beechwood (Nursery) and Camp Elder (Home Ed sessions). This post will be based in our Nursery. Our camp has a fire circle, toilets (camping type) and a cabin. Apart from that we are solely outdoors in ALL weathers (apart from severe winds). We have built structures and have a host of nature’s resources at our disposal. We are able to venture into the whole woodland where we have ponies, chickens, a pond, bee hives and a vast supply of insects, fungi and plant and tree life. The changing seasons offer us a rich and stimulating environment where no two days are ever the same. Our days are child led with our staff scaffolding, facilitating and moving on learning through quality interactions and support. We believe providing children with outdoor opportunities surrounded by nature enables them to develop holistically and become confident, independent, resilient and creative learners. We have a high staff:child ratio enabling us to develop strong relationships with the children and families and to really nurture their potential. Our nursery is for children from the term they are 3 until they are 5. Our Forest School day is currently 9.15am-3.15pm (Our opening hours will be changing in September to 8.30am-4pm)

We also run holiday club days throughout the year for primary age children and there may be opportunity to support at some of these sessions also. The majority of children attending these, are children who attended our nursery and so are well versed in the ways of Forest School and keen to develop their skills. These are fun and inspiring sessions.

Our business has gone from strength to strength over the past few years. We have long waiting lists. We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Early Years Practitioner who has a passion for the outdoors and for child-led learning to join our Into the Ark family.

Do you love working with young children?

Do you love the outdoors and enjoys spending time in nature, rain or shine?

Are you able to follow a child's lead in play and become the character they choose, whilst not caring if you look silly?

Are you a hard worker and happy to get stuck into any task needed, whether it be changing a nappy or digging wood chippings with the children?

Do you like animals and are happy to help with the hens or resident Shetland Ponies.

Are you able to spend time with a child and really listen to them and show a real interest in what they are telling you?

Are you able to have eyes in the back of your head and have an awareness of what other children are doing around you?

Can you see risks within your environment and act accordingly?

**Main duties**:

- Effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring the individual needs and interest of children in the setting are met
- Have quality interactions with the children; demonstrating your ability to move learning on in relation to our Curriculum and aspirations for the children as well as the children’s age and developmental stage
- Develop strong and respectful relationships with the children
- Undertake care routines and contribute to maintaining the children’s well being and safety
- Contribute to set up and tidy up and cleaning of setting as required
- Work together to create a high quality and stimulating environment
- Work together to keep the environment safe for the children including dynamically risk assessing daily
- Act as a ‘Key Worker’ for a group of children - develop strong relationships with them and their families, observe, assess and report on their progress.
- Report any concerns about the development of the children to SENCO/senior management and support in developing and implementing learning plans as required
- Advise Manager/Safeguarding Lead of any safeguarding or safety concerns and complete detail records of your concerns
- Practise first aid, as needed, and complete relevant documentation regarding reporting accidents
- Read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting including maintaining hygiene and cleaning procedures
- To attend all meetings and training requested, as per your contract.
- To be able to provide cover if necessary
