Sabrina House has provided care for people living with dementia for many years but following considerable investment in environmental layout and design, workforceand L&D we have exciting new opportunities available for those passionate about supporting people who are emotionally distressed by their dementia and require a specialist service to ensure their needs can be met appropriately.

Sabrina House SDCC will become a therapeutic care setting that demonstrates that quality of care and quality of life are of equal significance. It will provide a bespoke living environment embracing space and calming de-escalation rooms, along with enhancedstaffing and specialist training for Colleagues in positive approaches to behaviour, psychosocial therapies, de-escalation interventions and safe restrictive practices. The therapeutic ambition will be that people will be understood as having needs to be met,rather than being defined by their condition.

In your role as Specialist Dementia Care Assistant, you will assist Residents in all aspects of Resident care needs (e.g. physical, emotional, spiritual, occupational), providing attention when needed and according to their individual care plan, and ensuring Residentsretain their comfort and dignity. Assisting Residents who have limited mobility, or physical/memory/communication difficulties, making the best use of aids provided, to ensure that they safely achieve their personal goals.

Monitor Residents who may be confused/disoriented and / or who may become stressed and show distress reactions, to ensure the safety and welfare of themselves and others. Follow detailed care plans that will support carers to better understand and identifyunmet need, reduce the likelihood of increased stress and distress reactions and will help to calm and reassure Residents.

As a Specialist Dementia Care Assistant under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, taking responsibility for the physical and emotional wellbeing and social needs of our residents. Assisting residents with personal care activities such as washing, personalhygiene, dressing and assisting with meals.

Support Residents and their families to create and maintain a “Home from Home” environment, that is safe, clean, tidy, risk free and provides a sense of familiarity and belonging”, creating a ‘room as your home’

Answer the door and telephone appropriately, respond accordingly, and pass on messages promptly to ensure a high standard of customer care.

Ensure the Care Home’s resources are used appropriately to minimise waste and reduce risk.

Contribute to each Residents Care documentation by accurately documenting care given and report concerns and/or any changes in the Residents presentation as necessary to the Nurse in Charge.
