We are looking to employ a part-time or full-time Bookkeeper & Accounts Assistant to join our modern, customer focused accountancy and tax practice with Shop fronted offices in Weston-super-Mare, Taunton and Cheddar.

TLA - The Local Accountant was formed in 2010 and has experienced rapid growth throughout North Somerset and Somerset over the last 13 years. Our client base includes a diverse range of small business clients from sole traders to limited companies.

The role will give you exposure to all aspects of Bookkeeping, VAT and Accounts Preparation and would be suitable for someone who has an in-depth working knowledge of Quickbooks, Excel, Xero and Sage 50. Any knowledge that you may have of other bookkeeping or adhoc software would also be beneficial.

Experience of working within a busy accountancy practice would be preferred.

As a TLA bookkeeper and Accounts Assistant, your main duties would include:

- Providing ongoing advice and support to clients
- Bookkeeping for a variety of clients using Quickbooks, Xero, Sage 50 and Excel
- Completing and checking VAT returns before submitting to HMRC
- Preparation of sole trader and partnership accounts
- Using the latest apps and integrations to create and run an efficient end to end bookkeeping process
- Reconciliation of Bank, control accounts and balance sheet nominal codes
- Payroll Processing; upon business needs
- Preparation of a new customer's chart of accounts and amending if required
- Liaising with clients for queries and adhoc issues as they arise
- Knowledge of MS Office

The Salary is negotiable and will depend upon experience and qualifications.

Expected hours: 21 - 37.5 per week
