**Salary: £25,511 to £31,889, dependent on experience + pension + 25 days holiday per annum**

**Location: Midway, Bradford with travel to other offices**

**Who are we looking for?**

We are currently recruiting for a Buyer who will lead the procurement of a portfolio of goods and services at non-UCR 16 threshold level. Working independently or as part of a team, our Buyer will support the delivery of robust third party contractual agreements aligned to the delivery of wider business goals. In terms of risk, sourcing will focus on either short form contracts or purchase order terms.

As our Buyer, you will seek to improve value outcomes for Yorkshire Water through favourable negotiations, either via existing quotes or new business development opportunities.

**What will you be doing in the role?**

As our Buyer, you will be acting as a procurement representative of Yorkshire Water, communicating effectively and professionally across all levels of the business and its associated supply chains. Providing advice, guidance and support to the business to drive compliance and enhance commercial awareness across the Kelda Group, you will also:

- Support and challenge stakeholders to define procurement needs that align with current and future business demand, whilst ensuring any solutions provided address wider business requirements
- Undertake basic financial analysis to inform historic expenditure, off contract expenditure, budgets and future demand
- Identify and deliver short to medium term sourcing solutions that manage/mitigate supply chain and contractual risk on behalf of the business
- Prepare and present for approval sub-UCR 16 contract threshold contracts and commercial recommendations
- Establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximise engagement and support
- Drive excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management and control of work, ensuring compliance with relevant company policies at all times
- Ensure economic, environmental and ethical risks are assessed and appropriately mitigated across the supply chain and throughout the procurement lifecycle
- Contribute to the development of the Contract and Procurement team, to enhance efficiencies, policies, procedures and ways of working
- Manage and maintain all key tender and business unit reporting obligations as required.

**Knowledge and Skills Required**

**Essential**:
**As our Buyer, you will demonstrate**:

- Analytical thinking: The ability to analyse data sets and develop procurement plans that deliver value and mitigate risk
- Excellent communication: Utilising a variety of communication styles and tools in order to effect a particular outcome
- Strong negotiation: Effectively resolving disputes efficiently throughout the contract lifecycle
- Commercial acumen: Commercially focused, with a proven track record of delivering value
- An awareness of the implications of relevant legislation in Procurement; coupled with a sound understanding of the tendering process
- Application of the use of the Microsoft Office suite.

**Desirable**:

- Awareness and understanding of the relevant Kelda Procure to Pay systems (SAP etc.)
- Familiarity with the regulated Utilities Sector.
