UCLH is seeking to recruit a research administrator to support the delivery of the cancer screening study. The Research Study Administrator will work within a multi-disciplinary team of clinical, administrative and management staff.

The post-holder will be required to liaise with GP practice staff to organise and carry out visits to extract data required for the study. The post holder will also ensure that all data/study information is collected and reported in an accurate and timely manner. This includes ensuring that data is accurately uploaded and recorded on the participant invitation system, study database and any other monitoring systems.

Experience in clinical trials is not necessary; training will be provided. Good computer skills, ability to follow instructions yet able to work autonomously and flexibly are important. The position is offered on a full-time, Fixed Term contract until May 2023.

In our 2015-2020 cancer strategy, we set out our plans to improving early diagnosis of cancer to deliver better outcomes for our population. We are working with our academic partner, UCL and an American healthcare company to make strides in achieving this agenda. We are developing a large scale cancer screening study across north and east London that will be one of its kinds. One of our objectives is to deliver systematic population wide lung cancer screening in north and east London to make a step change in outcomes for patients. The study will run for three years and will recruit 50,000 participants in its first year. To deliver our objectives on lung cancer screening, we have developed four dedicated sites where study participants will have lung health checks and low dose CT scans. The sites are located at:

- University College London Hospitals, 235 Euston Rd, London, NW1 2BU
- Finchley Memorial Hospital, Granville Rd, London, N12 0JE
- Mile End Hospital, Bancroft Rd, London, E1 4DG
- King George’s Hospital, Barley Lane, Goodmayes, Ilford, IG3 8Y

To meet our other objectives, development of a novel blood test that detects cancer early when it can be treated, we will set up additional sites across north and east London to recruit participants onto the study. There will be two to three sites in each of the boroughs across this geography for ease of access to study participants.

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK, serving a large and diverse population.

The hospital also benefits from being next to University College of London. The university campus has the greatest concentration of medical research in Europe, with the MRC clinical trials unit and the Welcome Trust just around the corner on Euston Road. Currently, UCLH patients and staff are participating in over 150 clinical trials.

The Cancer Clinical Trials Unit office is based in 250 Euston Rd and comprises of three main areas: Haematology, Oncology and Paediatric Oncology and it supports activity in the local Clinical Research Facility and the North London Cancer Research Network and Experimental Cancer Centre. Each group is comprised of teams of research nurses, trial coordinators and data managers and provides support to local Investigators wishing to conduct clinical trials and other high quality clinical research projects within UCLH. Each team supports a process for agreeing a portfolio of research and ensures that trials are conducted to the highest standards and in accordance with UK legislation and the R&D Governance Framework. The aim of the Unit is to effectively use resources so as to ensure that patients have access to entry into clinical trials, as appropriate, and maintain the highest quality of care for patients.
