**The Company**:
Analytical Services International Ltd (ASI) is a research and service company specialising in the analysis of drugs and biologically active compounds using chromatography, immunoassay, mass spectrometry and spectrophotometry.

ASI has an international client base and offers laboratory services in three main areas: toxicology, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) and pre-clinical/clinical studies.

The toxicology provides services for two main sectors: for Coroners and pathologists investigating cause of death, and for the police for Road Traffic Act offences (primarily drink and drug-driving). A variety of biological matrices are tested using systems designed to meet ISO17025 accreditation standards, and in-line with the Forensic Science Regulators Codes of Conduct and Practice.

The TDM service provides measurements for drugs used in healthcare and clinical therapies to ensure correct dosing.

Services to clients conducting pre-clinical and clinical studies include method development, validation, and analysis of study samples. Services for these regulatory studies can be conducted under conditions of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

**The Role**:
We are expanding and looking for dynamic, critical thinkers with strong forensic toxicology capabilities and clear track record of reporting ability to join our very competent and driven reporting team. You will be expected to do both Coronial, RTA and ATD reports.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

General/Administrative;_**
- To undertake all duties and responsibilities in accordance with ASI’s policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- To become familiar and comply with ASI's rules on data confidentiality, data protection and security, including completion and adherence to ASI’s Disclosure of Interests in respect of impartiality and ASI’s confidentiality agreement.
- To become familiar with and comply with local Health and Safety policies/procedures including fire/evacuation procedures.
- In co-operation with the Company’s Quality Manager, ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ISO 17025 and Forensic Science Regulator’s Codes of Conduct and Practice as applicable. Failure to comply with this will constitute a serious disciplinary offence.
- To carry out general laboratory housekeeping in order to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and maintain compliance with Health and Safety requirements.
- To demonstrate the facilities of the laboratory to visitors.
- To make verbal and written reports to the Facility Director or Forensic Toxicology Reporting Manager or Forensic Toxicology Reporting Team Leads, as requested.
- Liaise with external organisations for the purposes of procuring goods or services, reporting results, promoting the Company and generating business.
- To participate in Company meetings and take an active interest in the activities of the Company and current scientific literature.
- To implement any cost recovery schemes introduced on the provision of the Company’s services.

- To maintain current knowledge of forensic toxicology through the necessary literature.
- To attend internal and external training sessions.
- To maintain an up-to-date training file.
- To follow chain of custody protocols for evidentially sound acceptance, processing and storage of forensic samples.
- To authorise and peer review data generated from the laboratory activities for use in toxicology cases submitted to court, under the direction of the Head of Forensic Toxicology.
- To comply with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with particular reference to receipt and handling of specimens, analyses and the reporting of results.
- To help develop the training programme and assist with training new staff and sharing knowledge with co-workers.
- To prepare reports and draft reports, as co-ordinated by the Forensic Toxicology Reporting Manager or Forensic Toxicology Reporting Team Leads.
- To ensure the accurate recording and reporting of results. Also to ensure that analytical results are generated in the time frame agreed with customers and/or the Forensic Toxicology Reporting Manager.
- Ensure that the Section Head is made aware of potential or actual infringements of policies/procedures e.g. by highlighting anomalous results.
- To ensure the quality of results by the use of internal quality control samples and/or participation in External Quality Assessment (EQA) and proficiency testing schemes.
- To interpret test data, compile and peer review written reports suitable for submission to the justice system particularly for Road Traffic Toxicology cases and Coroners courts, under the supervision of the Forensic Toxicology Reporting Manager or Forensic Toxicology Reporting Team Leads.
