This is an exciting opportunity to join BSMHFT as a Quality Improvement Lead. The role will incorporate the Trusts ability to deliver continuous improvement within the Trust working with service users, staff groups and experts by experience, supporting PSIRF implementation from a QI lens and supporting the Trust Strategy.

The role would suit an experienced quality improvement lead that is conversant with the Model for Improvement, has a passion for change leadership with confidence to deliver regular QI training modules.

Scoping of QI projects, ability to coach, develop and upskill a project teams to deliver QI projects.

The delivery of QI training modules and QI methodology in a variety of formats (online and in person). To work with the wider QI team to develop and adapt new modules when indicated.

Formulate presentations and reports.

Read and interpret data in a variety of formats.

Line manage and provide pastoral support for a small team.

Through team working and engaging stakeholders, the post holder will support staff to diagnose areas for quality improvement within their services. They will need to be able to present highly complex information to key stakeholders and frontline staff, assist in planning the improvement design and support the implementation of solutions and lead on specific projects.

They will need to negotiate with staff and stakeholders at all levels, using a highly persuasive and motivational approach, showing empathy for different positions, offering reassurance and assurance as appropriate and overcoming barriers to understanding. The post holder will support staff to evaluate any changes made and to ensure improvement is sustainable and, wherever possible, adopted and spread locally.

Work with colleagues to develop continuous improvement skills and capability across the organisation utilising the science of improvement methodologies.
- Act as a central point of expert support, guidance, and advice within the Trust on quality improvement and effectiveness ensuring that communication styles, methods and timings are appropriate to the audience. This includes the use of digital channels, presentational skills, written skills and verbal skills.
- Communicate analytical and statistical results to a wide range of internal and external staff, guiding them on a certain course of action to enable a structured and evidence-based approach to quality improvement
- Develop and deliver formal, complex presentations to large groups.
- Establish excellent relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and partners to support delivery of high-quality outcomes. Participate in national quality improvement forums and bring learning back into the Trust.
- Be visible to staff and regularly undertake quality improvement activities to engage colleagues at all levels to generate commitment to continuous improvement.
- Lead by example, role modelling integrity, impartiality and the elimination of bias by promoting an inclusive working environment that supports the Trust values and objectives.
- To work with service managers and programme leads to ensure that a continuous quality improvement approach is embedded into projects/activity and governance arrangements.
- To advise and guide Quality Improvement sponsors and coaches in developing their activity in line with Trust’s change cycle framework.
- Work in partnership with service managers to secure clinical and public engagement for identified projects.
- Produce and communicate project plans with the involvement of stakeholders, including patient and public where appropriate.
- Prepare and present information reports and presentations to a variety of audiences, including patient groups, clinical staff, service managers and varying governance meetings to support the delivery of improvement initiatives. Audiences may range from small groups of one interest group to large and mixed groups at conferences or similar events.
