Morrison Water Services Ltd are currently looking to recruit a Civils Estimator to work on our Scottish Water DV2 Framework working across a wide portfolio of projects. The role is based in our Stepps, Glasgow office reporting through to the Estimating Manager and may involve occasional travel to sites as required.
As a Civils Estimator you will be part of the up-front team. Responsible for delivering accurate and timely estimates across a mix of clean & wastewater projects involving capital delivery works, frameworks and competitive tenders.
The MWS Scotland region currently delivers a number of frameworks for Scottish Water including the Infrastructure Capital programme and the MEICA replacement operational alliance DV2 Lot 4 (this role). In addition, IDS deliver further specialist frameworks for Scottish Water as well for a portfolio of non-regulated clients. The business is currently at c. £130m p.a with further growth planned.
The DV2 Lot 4 MEICA replacement framework is a 6-year programme (2021-2027) with an option to extend for a further 6 years. The contract delivers a diverse range of design & construction projects (£100k - £4m) including the replacement of MEICA equipment, associated civil engineering works, specialist control & automation, SCADA and telemetry works. Annual volume £25m-£40m.
This new position is a Scottish based role with occasional overnight stays outside Scotland.
**As the Civils Estimator your responsibilities will include**:
- Support project team throughout project life cycles from early stage to close out on complex and large value projects.
- Ensure Target pricing is developed sufficiently and effectively between MWS & Scottish Water while maintaining key milestones.
- Review full estimating handover package ensuring all information is extensively reviewed and estimate fully detailed to meet MWS/ Scottish Water standards.
- Requirement to engage supply chain for project enquiries and reviewing returned tender submissions.
- Ensure all projects are submitted in line with framework and NEC contract
- Responsible for prioritising workload and supporting the team to produce results in a timely manner to meet business needs
- Ensure collaboration with the delivery team throughout project life cycle ensuring all project specifics are captured
- Present estimating proposed figures to management for final approval noting any comments and required adjustments
- Travelling to sites to ascertain scope of works as & when required.
**Skills & Knowledge Requirements**
- Experience in the water industry is preferable
- Previous experience working in an estimating function
- Civil engineering/Utilities experience essential
- Strong contract knowledge (NEC) experience is desired
- Good IT skills, particularly Excel, programming and other estimating software
- An ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work with staff at all levels
- The ability and desire to identify opportunities for improvement, and influence change
