Job Introduction

This role is part of BBC Studios, our global content company that supports the BBC Public Service mission of maximising the greatest commercial returns to the license payer by building BBC brands, audiences and reputation across the world.

The BBC Studios Product and Technology group is responsible for the design, development and delivery of the Studios portfolio of products.

Our portfolio is diverse but is fully focused on supporting our functions and businesses around the globe whether that be back-office functions, content production or direct to consumer offerings. We are a growing function and will provide an important contribution to the business growth targets over the coming years.

Core to that growth will be the launching of new or enhanced digital products into the market in order to monetize our content offering. You will be joining the team as a key member for shaping and delivering a commercial news subscription offering which is at the mobilisation phase.

Commercial Digital are a multi-function delivery team focused on delivery of world class direct-to-consumer and business-to-business solutions within BBC Studios. We are a small agile team delivering big change. We work in a fast-paced environment more akin to a start-up.

**The Opportunity**:
We are looking for an experienced Principle Tester to join the team to help shape and deliver a major News based Direct-to-Consumer suite of products.

Working to the Test Manager, the Principal Tester will take responsibility for leading, setting direction and co-ordinating testing across a group of product test teams.

Main Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing the test approach across a group of product teams. Working with internal teams and external third parities to ensure a release is fir for purpose.
- Owning the testing approach across complex, multi-team, technology programmes.
- Advocate and implement agile testing principles to ensure efficiency of the test process.
- Define risk based test scopes, from a combination of product knowledge, user reach analytics and technical variation between devices/platforms.
- Ensure automated tests and tools are used appropriately and are effective.
- Gather feedback to drive continuous improvement of testing.
- Liaising with and direct third parties.
- Represent test when liaising with internal stakeholders and external third parties.
- Working closely with product owners, technical architects and leads, and other stakeholders across BBC Studios and the BBC.
- Extensive experience of software testing - designing and implementing test approaches for complex online products.
- Experience of innovating in testing technology and processes.
- Extensive experience of web and mobile technologies.
- Experience in media/ news industry
- Delivery focused with evidence of delivering efficiencies.
- Experience of leading teams in high-pressure environments.
- Experience in agile software development methodologies including behaviour-driven development and test-driven development.
- Experience of successfully liaising with external suppliers.
- Evidence of problem solving and providing creative solutions.
- Good written and verbal skills and comfortable communicating at all levels in the organisation.
