- Vacancy ID 13898- We are currently recruiting for a temporary full time HR Officer to work on site at one of our centrally based departments starting ASAP for approx 12 weeks working 37.5 hrs p/w and paying £17.02 p/h**Duties**:

- Support_
- Confidently advise line managers and staff members, using appropriate methods of communication tailored to the audience, answering straightforward questions or researching employment law, interpreting procedures to answer more complex questions
- Support managers in managing change and in handling straightforward individual employee cases, ensuring compliance with University policy, working with central HR where necessary
- Work with managers to design effective job advertisements and job descriptions to ensure that they comply with University guidance and best practice, and have oversight of the recruitment process
- Support in the administration of the University’s pay and recognition exercises in the Humanities Division: Reward and Recognition, Recognition of Distinction, and Professorial Merit Pay
- As part of the Divisional HR team, provide ad hoc HR support for faculties at a level appropriate to the grade, such as support during staff absence or assistance with specific projects
- Carry out induction sessions for new staff and deliver briefings on a range of HR topics within the department _Development_
- Working with the Head of the HR Shared Service in planning, updating, and implementing new departmental HR policy, ensuring policies are in place for induction, probation, visitors, absence management, etc.
- Provide reports to the Senior Management Group to include updates on staffing, legislation changes and key developments in HR
- Attend Divisional working groups or committees to build relationships and share best practice _Transactional_
- Prepare standard letters of appointment, contracts, and visitor agreements, ensuring that relevant right to work documentation, Occupational Health and ID checks are completed, and HMRC IR 35 rules are applied for consultants
- Manage the administration of in-post HR activity and changes to appointments, ensuring that amendments to contracts, secondments, leavers and other changes are carried out effectively
- Manage the end of fixed term contract process for professional staff, ensuring that line managers are supported in carrying out procedures in a timely manner.
- Manage the appointment and administration, including payment, of casual workers in the Divisional Office, including the interdisciplinary Masters courses.

- Monitor end of probationary periods and annual appraisal dates to advise managers as necessary and ensure that processes are in place for their correct storage and maintenance
- Maintain oversight of monthly payroll changes, ensuring that the correct funds are utilised, highlighting any funding issues, and adhering to the University’s deadlines
- Ensure compliance with payroll procedures, awareness of statutory pay, and monitor working hours
- Attend appropriate training on employment law, University HR policies and procedures, and their effective implementation at departmental level _Line management _
- Responsible for the line management of one or more HR Administrators

**Essential Criteria**
- Experience of working in an HR team/role and managing HR processes
- Qualified or working toward CIPD graduate level, or have equivalent experience
- Experience of operating HR information systems and producing management information reports
- Ability to clearly and accurately communicate processes and procedures verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal accurately and confidently with numbers
- Ability to develop professional and effective working relationships with key stakeholders
- Awareness of data protection and information security guidelines
