Do you want to work in an agile scrum team with other experienced software engineers and testers, sharing responsibility for creating high-quality enterprise software? Do you enjoy working in cloud-based technologies, helping to build next-generation, market-leading research processes and data management software?

We are currently seeking a Lead Tester to join our team in Woking, leading the testing within an agile development squad, combining both leadership with active day-to-day involvement in the work of the development team, and helping the team deliver, via a rigorous quality process, highly impacting cloud-based software as a SaaS solution.

What we’ll get you doing:

- Working within an agile development squad to implement testing strategy on user stories, within the scope of a product, and helping ensure the team delivers a quality product, on schedule, and according to the departmental quality processes
- Helping to build and support the squad, and specifically those in the test function, creating and sustaining a positive team environment, mentoring team members on testing best practice
- Contributing to the squad activities, including hands-on execution of testing, both manual and automated, ensuring repeatable and verifiable test records.
- Working with Lead Testers for other development squads to identify and champion improvements in testing and delivery practices
- Proactively developing your skills, identifying areas for improvement that align with company strategy and your own career aspirations, and undertaking required training activities.

Here is what success in this role looks like:

- You can identify and implement testing strategy at a product level, assessing product and project risks, and incorporating industry knowledge, allowing you to support the team to meet agreed delivery schedules.
- You will have hands-on experience of software testing, both manual and automated, and a desire to deliver high-quality software, allowing you to create thorough and repeatable test plans for new features, helping to find issues that our customers care about.
- You will have worked in an agile development team environment, fully contributing to team processes
- You will be an excellent communicator, capable of building and maintaining successful working relationships at all levels, presenting both technical and non-technical information.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in or knowledge of:

- testing within AWS architecture.
- testing of SQL and NoSQL databases
- scripting in a language such as Bash, Python, Scala, Go or alike
- integrating testing within a CI/CD process, i.e. Jenkins
