**Job description**:
You will be leading the Finance Systems Improvement (FSI) Team which is made up of seven people and is part of the wider Operational Finance (Op Fin) Directorate (formerly DFinStrat). Op Fin is comprised of around 150 people and is, in turn, one of the Directorates that comprise the Director General Finance Organisation within the MoD.

You will be responsible for functional oversight of the on-going use, development and utilisation of the corporate Finance systems and related data, used within the Department. This includes ensuring effective controls and risk management are in place, along with delivering business change to improve the user experience and related functionality within the corporate Finance systems. You will also be responsible for ensuring live support issues relating to the corporate Finance systems are managed and resolved in accordance with business priorities.

The FSI Team work closely with Defence Business Services (DBS), the internal shared service provider, to maintain a balanced programme of delivery to support the corporate Finance systems. The team also manage the Finance elements of the Department’s Service Level Agreement (SLA) with DBS.

The Function uses an Oracle, on premise eBusiness Suite for its Financial Accounting & Commercial Management solution, along with Cognos for its Management Accounting solution and its combined Finance and Commercial Reporting solution.

This is a strong leadership role, operating across the Department, requiring you to lead your team, engage with the Commercial function, with DBS IT, Change and Finance service areas and more broadly across the wider Finance function. You will also work closely with the Finance and Commercial IS Enabled ‘Cloud’ programme team. They will deliver the move of the current Finance and Commercial systems to the Cloud, in line with Government Shared Services Strategy and Functional Convergence.

You must have a professional accountancy qualification along with strong finance systems, data, reporting and controls experience. Project management, business change experience along with Digital, Data and Technology experience are desirable.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week based at Abbeywood in Bristol with potential travel to other locations. The team works on a hybrid basis with 2-3 days per week in the office.
