The Role

**Salary**: £37,500 (plus substantial training budget)

Based at Bicycle TX, Cambridge you will help to achieve a Knowledge Transfer Partnership’s objective to transfer key knowledge and techniques required to develop novel antibiotics.

The KTP Associate will be an employee of Newcastle University but will spend most of their working time at the company’s premises at Granta Park, Great Abington, Cambridge,
CB21 6GS and when required at Newcastle University. Although the contract is fixed term for a duration of 3 years, more than 70% of KTP staff gain wa permanent job offer by their KTP company.

Key Tasks On boarding, familiarisation with the company and university Creation of a detailed plan and complete a mini project Protein purification of important outer membrane bacterial proteins Phage display using BicycleTx’s proprietary technology Assay development and implementation (SPR, biochemical assays) Crystallography - protein crystallisation and solving novel target-compound complex structures Disseminate and embed the knowledge within Bicycle to various stakeholders throughout the KTP via reports, presentations, group discussions, workshops and staff training Present findings to stakeholders prepare and complete full documentation Disseminate research via scientific publications and conferences

The Person (Essential)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Experience in protein biochemistry Experience in structural biology for example X-ray crystallography or cryoEM Experience in a wide range of biochemical and biophysical techniques (E.g., SPR, ITC) Molecular biology relevant to membrane protein expression Experience in membrane protein biochemistry Understanding of peptide structure/activity relationships and early lead optimisation (Desirable) Skills in data analysis statistics and biological mathematics (Desirable) Industrial work experience (Desirable)
