Assistant Housekeeper for Private House

We are looking for an Assistant Housekeeper to support the House Manager in maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness and care of a large, beautiful Estate used by the Owner, Family, their guests and accompanying staff when visiting. These properties are to be maintained clean, cared for, tidy and welcoming in readiness for immediate occupation and use by the family.

You will be part of a team and your responsibilities will include
- Tidying and cleaning all private living areas and storage areas
- Carrying out minor servicing and repairs if within capabilities, such as light bulb replacement, showerhead descaling. Report more significant housekeeping-related defects to House Manager.
- Providing laundry services, including arrangements for dry cleaning.
- Polishing antiques and fine furniture.
- Reporting any breakages and damages.
- Light outdoor duties such as putting out rubbish, sweeping terrace areas, laundering outside seating fabrics and cleaning summer houses.
- Spot cleaning of inside window glass
- Control of household pests, including carpet moths and flies. Report other infestations, such as rodents, to the House Manager.
- Observing and adhering to the security, fire, health and safety risk reduction procedures of the Main House and other properties and work areas.
- Keeping clean and fuelled any vehicles assigned for housekeeping use.
- Carrying out any other tasks that the House Manager or Housekeeper may reasonably ask.

You must be able to commit to a 40 hour week, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm unless the family are in residence when you will be expected to be flexible with your hours. You will be asked to work additional ad hoc weekends and this would be paid or time off in lieu given.

You must have a good eye for detail and take pride in your work. You should be able to use your own initiative and be able to work well under pressure. Experience working in a large private house would be advantageous but not essential.

You will be on PAYE on a salary of £33,500.
