The Estates North team are looking for a Building Maintenance Officer to join our team on a permanent basis, working 36 hours per week.

The role has the flexibility to work from home with a base at our territory office in York. You must be able to drive in order to travel across the northern region to visit the sites within your territory, but you will primarily operate within Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

As a Building Maintenance Officer your role will primarily support Building Conservation and Building Services Managers to deliver cyclical and capital repair and enhancement schemes across building conservation and mechanical/engineering. As a result, we are looking for a resourceful and creative person who will relish the opportunity to learn about and make valuable contributions to safeguarding some truly outstanding historic places designated as Scheduled Monuments, Listed Buildings and UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The Estates Department is a group of construction, historic buildings, and landscape professionals, specialising in the repair, enhancement and conservation of buildings, gardens, and landscapes. The Estate team manages the maintenance of the historic and non-historic Estate on behalf of English Heritage. They are based in small territory teams across the country. The territory Senior Estate Manager has overall responsibility for delivery of conservation maintenance, and they are supported by Estate Managers (EM), Building Conservation Managers (BCM), Building Services Managers (BSM), Landscape Managers (LM) and other support officers and assistants.

This is a development role where you will be trained to look after our specialist portfolio and should expect to carry out tasks detailed in the Job Description.

English Heritage's Estates North department seeks a highly motivated person who could have already started their career in historic building conservation and would like to develop their knowledge alongside other heritage professionals, or have practical experience of maintaining complex historic buildings/ruins but now wants to move towards contract administration and project management to enable industry best practice.

To be considered as a Building Maintenance Officer you will need:

- Experience of maintaining a diverse range of properties,
- Experience within the historic and conservation environment,
- Hold, or work towards HNC/HND or equivalent in an M&E related, construction management, building conservation or similar relevant discipline,
- Working knowledge of current legislation and regulations covering building and civil engineering works and other relevant statutory regulations and bylaws (e.g. Health and Safety, CDM) Regulations 2015.
- Computer literacy, with knowledge of MS office suite.
