Great Bear is a leading 3rd party logistics business providing a wide range of ambient warehousing services, shared-user and dedicated transport solutions to a wide variety of customers alongside offering a flexible mix of added-value services to simplify supply chain. We operate over 7 million sq.ft. of warehousing space across 30+ locations in the UK. Our distribution network spans all corners of the country.
Our Markham Vale site are now recruiting for a Transport Operations Support on a full time basis.
**Salary**: £24,133 per annum plus £2,000 shift allowance.
Working hours: 4 on 4 off, (7pm-7am)
**Job Description**:
The purpose of a Transport Operations Support is to support the performance of the transport function in delivering an efficient, compliant and service-driven operation.
**Key Duties of a Transport Operations Support**:
- Correctly debriefing drivers.
- Checking all timesheets for correct completion and ensuring all PODs are returned completed correctly.
- Scanning and storing PODs using Great Bear’s document management system.
- Preparing drivers’ wallets and issuing delivery notes in drop sequence plus any other relevant delivery information.
- Printing all despatch notes and replenishing despatch paper as required.
- Answering the telephone and assisting with any enquiries.
- Downloading drivers’ cards / tachographs.
- Ensuring all estimated time of arrivals (ETAs) are communicated to Customer Services.
- Consistently updating all spreadsheets including, but not limited to; Planning Tool, run summaries and trailer check sheets.
- Departing loads using Transport Management System (TMS).
- Ensuring all uplifts are despatched in correct loads.
- Reporting failures to the customer in a timely manner.
- Driver licence checks.
**Qualifications**:
- Attention to detail / accuracy.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Conscientious and reliable.
- Positive and adaptable attitude.
- Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines.
- Good standard of computer literacy, particularly MS Office e.g. PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
