**Overview of project/role**

To undertake track inspections programme and to identify sub standard conditions, raising job orders for the necessary remedial works within a section of the line or completing TANC assessments where necessary. Ensuring the track maintenance gangs complete these works to our LU Standards. Completing Inspections on Track and Staff including PM1, PM3, PM4, ATMS/TRV ISSE, JIP’s where required and licenced to do so.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Manage the track inspection programme, so that the track assets within a defined section meet company and Business Unit Safety and Quality standards require for the operation of the scheduled train service
- Inspect the track to promote the safety of customers, staff and contractors, ensuring that all aspects of the Company’s Safety Policy and processes are complied with together with relevant Health and Safety legislation.
- Monitor monthly and 3 monthly Inspection programmes based upon the job holders own awareness of track conditions and intelligence gathered widely from operations and adherence to engineering standards.
- When required the jobholder will carry out technical investigation into public complaints relating to Track Condition or Noise & Vibration.
- When required jobholder will carry out assessment on staff for SCL purposes (Protection Master and T001/2/3/4.) where licenced to do so.
- Respond to emergencies working such hours and times as necessary to ensure safe operation of the railway.

**Skills, Knowledge & Experience**

**Critical experience, ‘know-how’ and qualifications**:

- Must hold or have ability to hold PWT-EH certification and license (Desirable)
- Must hold T002 licence (Essential)
- Must hold PM4 licence (Desirable)
- Knowledge of Company safety standards, rules and regulations and those specifically applicable to own Discipline (Track) (Essential)
- Knowledge of Track operational practices (Essential)
- Have detailed working knowledge of P&C, maintenance or renewals.
- Ability to communicate effectively with managers and other members of staff to ensure an understanding of rules and management instructions (Essential)
- Hold or ability to hold PM3 Licence, Track Supervisory Inspection (Desirable)
- TANC approved person (Desirable)
- D32 qualified (Desirable)
- Knowledge of team objectives and of personal role in that team.
- Knowledge of Company and team behavioural standards.
