**Job description**:
In the Road Freight Strategy Team, we cover diverse and exciting issues ranging from HGV driver facilities, lorry parking standards and driver working conditions. We work closely with National Highways, the freight associations and other government departments to lead the development and investment in this area. We are focused on supporting the wider HGV driver shortages and also the economic and green agenda through freight and harnessing technology to drive forward improvements at existing lorry parks and driver facilities at new and existing distribution/business centres.

**Person specification**:
**Responsibilities may include but are not limited to**:

- Handle ministerial and official correspondence, Parliamentary Questions (PQs) and briefing requests.
- Drafting clear and concise reports, briefing and other written material for senior colleagues, stakeholders, and Ministers.
- Supporting the Senior Policy Advisor on the HGV Parking and Driver Welfare Matched Funding Grant Scheme. This scheme is designed to support and encourage operators of HGV Parking Facilities to make improvements such as better security, showers and eating facilities as well as possibly increasing spaces for lorry drivers.

**About you**

To be successful, you will be someone who has experience of stakeholder management and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of a business or organisation. You have superb drafting clear and concise briefing skills, being able to draft reports for a range of senior internal and external stakeholders.

You have experience of leading and delivering multiple projects, policy or workstreams to deadlines. You can present and communicate information to others, using you excellent communication skills to tailor your written and spoken style to suit your audience.

You can coordinate input from various functions of an organisation effectively.

**Additional information**

A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
