**The Role**

The mapping role sits within our Operations Team but works closely with all departments and is a hugely important part of the mobilisation of Beat the Street.

The game phase of Beat the Street is integral to the programme and carefully selected locations for our Beat Boxes is one of the most important elements

As Mapping Project Officer, you will ensure that our Beat Boxes are in the most interesting, practical, and safe locations possible, to enable players to have a fantastic experience as they play the game and increase their physical activity levels.

When your planning has been done, you will finalise the locations on an online map and carry out ground risk assessments before working with local authority highways teams to achieve permissions and ‘sign off’.

During the ground risk assessment phase, you will spend time in the game town or city physically checking the proposed location of each box and completing a risk assessment, therefore working away for short periods will be required. Foreign travel may also be required when IH secure project contracts abroad.

This is a busy role where you may have to juggle multiple dependencies, so excellent time keeping and the ability to plan effectively is key.

**Beat the Street**

Beat the Street is a transformational tool to improve health and place at scale. At its heart is a game that enables adults and children to connect to where they live through walking, wheeling, and cycling and empowers them to make changes to their daily behaviour. It provides both insight into a community and evidence of a population shift in behaviours and attitudes. It uses behavioural science and is evidence-based.

Crucially, it supports work already happening in a place by connecting people to assets (green spaces, town centres and active travel infrastructure) and organisations and activities in a fun, engaging way.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Understanding the criteria and KPIs specific to each project.
- Liaising with key stakeholders in each game area to agree ideal Beat Box locations.
- Working to tight deadlines and understanding project dependencies.
- Creating a desktop map of the game area and plotting Beat Box locations in safe and engaging places.
- Individually visiting and risk assessing each proposed Beat Box location prior to installation.
- Completing risk assessment documents to evidence IH’s due diligence that locations have been assessed as safe and appropriate.
- Liaising with local Council Highways departments and other miscellaneous agencies (e.g., parks, schools, new developers) to ensure all locations have the appropriate permission to install Beat Boxes.
- Carefully checking the map design to ensure the correct locations have been plotted prior to going to print.
- Plotting ‘hidden gems’ as an additional fun and engaging element for those using the desktop app
- Maintaining clear records and storing them in agreed documentation shared folders and project plans.
- Attending regular project and meetings and update the team on your workstream.
- Working on other company projects when time permits.
