Permanent post for an enthusiastic and experienced person to work as an Assistant Psychologist under the supervision of Consultant Clinical Child Psychologist, Lead for ASD / Lecturer (joint clinical and research role with BCUHB and Bangor University) for review after 12 months. To use/assist in the preparation of psychology service within the speciality and in the development of diagnostic instruments, assessments, training and therapeutic intervention, which includes PACT and Musical Interaction Therapy, for children on the autistic spectrum and with social communication difficulties. To support client assessments, to undertake support programmes, care or intervention under the guidance of the supervising Clinical Psychologist. To be responsible to plan and prioritise workload and actions, following instructions and guidance from the supervising Clinical Psychologist.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable. The applicant should have personal or work experience of playing with typically developing infants/toddlers as well as children with ASD. We are also particularly seeking someone willing to sing spontaneous interactive songs with playful floor-based activity and actions (like nursery rhymes) individually supporting each parent with their young child with ASD.

To assist in the provision of a psychological service to clients within the specialty under the direction of the supervising clinical psychologist

To assist in the development of diagnostic tools and methods aligned to the Autism Spectrum Disorder.

To be responsible for the planning and prioritisation of own workload and activities following the direction and guidelines given by the supervising clinical psychologist

To undertake assessments of clients and implement programmes of support, care or intervention following guidance from the supervising clinical psychologist

To undertake research activities as required and directed by the supervising clinical psychologist

To work within guidelines given by the supervising clinical psychologist

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

1. To carry out protocol based routine Clinical Psychological assessments with clients, as appropriate and agreed with referrers and clients, under the direction of the Psychologist

2. To carry out specific, protocol driven intervention procedures, under the supervision of the Clinical Psychologist.

3. To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological intervention and/or management of a client’s concerns, under the supervision of the Clinical Psychologist.

4. To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care across all settings.

5. To assist in the provision of advice to other clinical team members in the delivery of Psychological services or other appropriate activities.

6. To plan and run relevant therapeutic programmes for patients within community settings.

7. To form positive working relationships with colleagues, referrers and partner agencies. To assist the qualified clinical psychologist in providing advice to professional colleagues on the psychological assessment and intervention of children within community settings.

8. To be a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team and attend meetings as appropriate, reporting back clinical findings and patient involvement.

9. To write clinical reports and keep clinical records on clients to agreed service standards.
