Digital Space are looking for a trainee operator to join our Data Centre team in Telford, Shropshire. This role is a great opportunity for an individual looking to start their IT career.

The team works 24/7 365 days a year based on a 12 hour shift pattern providing a vital service to Digital Space and it’s customer running IBM Power servers and the IBM i operating system.

We monitor and manage business critical servers and services.

The role involves monitoring systems, processing and managing backups and other processes in accordance with schedules, operational procedures and established quality standards.

We monitor customers servers running the IBM i operating systems using our prescribed toolsets and escalate alerts with support teams as appropriate.

With the support of the shift lead you will manage incidents, ensuring accurate logging, reporting and escalation is maintained at all times. We provide a service desk supporting our customers, logging calls and escalating as appropriate. You must maintain the confidentiality of all information processed and ensure Data Centre and company security procedures are adhered to at all times

You’ll need good PC/Microsoft skills, excellent communication skills, self-motivation plus the ability to work on your own and as a member of a team.

You will need to be a quick learner and must hold a current driving licence.

Full training will be provided

During your traineeship, you’ll learn about the IBM hardware and operating system and our suite of IT tools. You’ll get to know the nuts and bolts of our company’s and customer’s systems and operations

Once fully trained, you will have responsibility for the IBM i Infrastructure, resolving faults, incidents and problems and performing approved changes across our IBM i customer base.

The objective of the role is to ensure that we continue to provide excellence in IBM i systems support and management to our customers. Collaboration with other members of the team and other teams is vital to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity of service.

**Responsibilities (when trained)**:

- Ensuring that customers incident, change & requests tickets are managed in a professional consistent manner
- Working closely with other team members to ensure customer satisfaction
- Ensuring processes are being followed
- Ensuring documentation is current and up to date.
- Perform problem analysis and creating/updating Service Now incident tickets
- Perform troubleshooting for complex system issues

- Ensure customer incidents are resolved within Service Level Agreements (SLA)
- Updating operations procedures
- Interact with customers and vendors in a professional and collaborative manner
- Ensuring first rate customer service and promoting service excellence
