We are excited to announce the following vacancy has arisen with the SCO Postgraduate Medical Education team:
**Title: SCO Foundation Programme Tutor FY1**

**Tenure**:The appointment will be for 12 months initially.
- The Foundation Programme Tutor for Foundation Year 1 (FPT1) is responsible for supporting the Foundation Programme Director (FPD) in all aspects of delivering the Foundation programme, with a particular focus on the coordination of the supervision, support and teaching of the cohort of the Foundation Year 1 doctors. The FPT1 will report to the FDP who will provide input regarding educational activity to inform the annual appraisal.

The post holder will work closely with the Postgraduate Medical Education Manager/Deputy Manager to ensure an administrative service is provided by the Foundation administrator

**Main duties of the job**:
Funding for 1.25 PA session to be incorporated into the post holder’s job plan.

- Postgraduate Qualification in Education
- GMC Accredited Clinical Supervisor (Certified and on HENW Register)
- GMC Accredited Educational Supervisor (Certified and on HENW Register)
- Completion of (Or Equivalent experience) Deanery recognised training events and/or refreshers every 3 years
- Educational Supervision
- Training the Trainer
- Selection into Specialty
- Equality & Diversity

**Knowledge, skills and experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Consultant/SAS Doctor within the Trust
- Consultant/SAS Doctor with a minimum of 5 PA contract with the organisation
- An awareness and ability to further the aims and policies of the Foundation programme.
- Clinical and educational Supervisor Experience
- Experience of line management of medical and non-medical staff, including an understanding of revalidation and educational appraisal processes
- Able to Co-Operate with other health professionals to promote multi-disciplinary working
- Knowledge of Management Structures in Medical Education and Awareness of Recent Changes in the Delivery of Medical Education, nationally and locally
- Interest & Enthusiasm for improving delivery of medical training and continuing professional development
- Knowledge of assessment methods
- Evidence of ability to work in a team and to organise and manage the work of the department
- Effective leadership and communication skills. Motivating and developing others. Approachability
- Evidence of Delivering well Evaluated Teaching Sessions / Tutorials
- Ability To Manage and Record Change
- Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience in a senior medical education Role eg: college tutor, specialty tutor, foundation Tutor, Training Programme Lead
- Previous Clinical Management experience and / or commitment to management training
- Evidence of relevant research and/ or publications/ presentations
- Evidence of experience at strategic level of national and / or international education organisations
