Irr Research Grants Finance Officer
**UE06 £32,982 - £38,205 Per Annum**
**College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine / Clinical Sciences / Institute for Regeneration and Repair**
**Full-Time (35 hours per week)**
**Open-Ended
This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
**The Opportunity**:
Our institute has a small finance team of 12 who work together to support the academic endeavour of our three research centres. Within this group we have a transactional general ledger finance team and we have a grants team. As a grants team member, you will have your own individual Principal Investigator (PI) portfolio as well as providing general support, so there is opportunity for both independent initiative driven work and larger group working within this role. We have initiated a programme of costing harmonisation across the three research centres to facilitate more efficient cross-cover within the Institute so although each Research Grants Finance Officer is responsible for their own PI portfolio, the creation of standardised practice ensures that work can be covered across the team during busy periods and periods of leave/absence. We will be supplying full training; however previous experience of working within the higher education research funding environment would be a strong advantage.
**Your skills and attributes for success**:
- Significant financial or management accounting experience working in a busy accounts office environment with experience in higher education sector.
- Previous experience and/or knowledge of the UK research funding environment is desirable.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to seeking out information, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new skills, particularly digital skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and at ease when dealing with a wide range of stakeholders. Demonstrable planning and organisation skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

**As a valued member of our team you can expect**:
- A competitive salary of £32,982 - £38,205
- An exciting, positive, creative, challenging and rewarding place to work.
- To be part of a diverse and vibrant international community
- Comprehensive Staff Benefits, such as a generous holiday entitlement, a defined benefits pension scheme, staff discounts, family-friendly initiatives, and flexible work options. Check out the full list on our **staff benefits page **(opens in a new tab) and use our reward calculator to discover the total value of your pay and benefits
**Championing equality, diversity and inclusion**
The University of Edinburgh holds a Silver Athena SWAN award in recognition of our commitment to advance gender equality in higher education. We are members of the Race Equality Charter and we are also Stonewall Scotland Diversity Champions, actively promoting LGBT equality.
Prior to any employment commencing with the University you will be required to evidence your right to work in the UK. Further information is available on our **right to work webpages **(opens new browser tab).
On this occasion the University will not consider applicants requiring sponsorship for this role. International workers will therefore only be able to take up this role if they can demonstrate an alternative right to work in the UK.
**Key notes for applicants**
We anticipate that interviews will be held within 2-3 weeks of the advert closing date.
