**Overview of the role**:
The MBU is new structure within Tokamak Energy. We want to usher in the HTS era. This is a leadership role within the MBU focused on creating and improving our operational structures to manage day-to-day activities across the unit. We recognise we are in our infancy, but we are ambitious have big plans to grow fast and make a global impact. We need a leader to help use shape our structure and processes to ensure we operate efficiently and effectively where every member of our unit is maximising the use of their key skills.

**In this role, you will**:

- Implement operational process to support BD and the delivery of products.
- Lead on business-as-usual operational activities for such as magnet production, safety and quality, supply and procurement, and resourcing.
- Develop metrics and KPIs then lead on monitoring MBU's delivery and performance.
- Enhance our communication and sharing of information within the MBU ensuring standards, policies and procedures are used effectively to support our work towards our vision.
- Support the MBU Magnets Lead and their direct reports to effectively plan resources and aid the recruiting and development of capability.
- Support with the cultural change from an R&D focussed operation to a product
- to-customer mindset.
- Support with budget management for the Magnets team, including forecast, and monitoring.
- Work closely with the TE portfolio, programme, project office and key senior stakeholders to follow best practices and ensure business efficiency.

**Requirements**:

- Appropriate experience and proven track record of operations management, ideally within a company that took a novel technology to market
- A great organiser and planner with experience of resource and budget setting and management.
- An appreciation of a delivery focus and customer focus environment.
- A good understanding of process development, IT tools and wider business governance and supporting processes.
- A broad understanding of engineering design and/or software development processes is beneficial.
- Experience of deep tech hardware production and delivery is beneficial.
- Empathetic and able to form a strong network of effective relationships across the organisation.
- Great communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to report project status, issues and plans concisely and effectively in different forums.
- Proactive, energetic and delivery focused and able to support and motivate the team to progress with good problem-solving skills.
- Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to deal with ambiguity.
