Job Title: Planning & Logistics Material Controller

Location: Hinckley

Reports to: Logistics Manager

1. Job Purpose

To help manage all aspects of Logistics, Production Planning, Manning requirements and to provide expertise to the business in the development of the Logistics department to ensure efficient operations are maintained.

To analyse and improve the logistics performances of the designated area.

To assist the Logistics Manager in developing a cross-functional support team.

To drive the continuous improvement programme.

To liaise with customers / suppliers externally and internally as necessary.

To help manage the department to achieving key performance criteria.

2. Dimensions:
Financial - To ensure Health, Safety and Environment Programme is paramount order to prevent accidents / issues and subsequent claims.

To meet customer demands, internally and externally, on time and at the right quality.

To support the making & achieving of the business plan.

3. Principle Accountabilities

1) To support health, safety and environmental action plans.
2) To achieve the customer targets on delivery.
3) To consistently achieve the quality standards as determined by the customer and adhering to the company’s quality procedures and standards, thereby ensuring continued IATF 16949 registration.

4) To constantly monitor and analyse performance and implement continuous improvements.
5) To maximize efficiency of operations via good management, a flexible manning approach to standardised work, practical problem solving and continuous improvement.
6) To liaise with all customers, externally and internally as required.
7) Preparation, monitoring and analysis of agreed KPI’s.
8) To assist, the Logistics Manager, in the construction of and achieving of, the Logistics budgets.
9) To challenge current convention.
10) To carry out any other duties, relevant to the post which may arise.

4. Equipment Used & Technical Expertise Required

1) Demonstrable experience in the logistic functions within the industry.

2) Knowledge of automotive industry ideally.

3) Manufacturing & Logistics experience (experience of production planning and lean manufacturing)

4) Customer liaison experience

5) Excellent analytical & Practical problem solving skills.

6) Financial awareness.

7) Comprehensive IT skills including Excel and MRP / ERP systems.

8) GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.

9) Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills.

10) The ability to demonstrate and challenge convention and lateral thinking in the pursuit of continuous improvement.

6. Assignment & Review of Work

Receives work via production daily operation, budget assumptions, customer demand, process issues, via customer contact, through continuous improvement and Logistics Manager.

7. Decision Making Authority

Complete empowerment within the managed area based on best for business philosophy in order to achieve the company’s key performance indicators, providing that legal requirements, company procedures and budgets are not contravened.

8. Contact with Others

Communication / contact via any method at all levels within the company and when necessary with customers and suppliers.

9. Knowledge & Experience Required

We require a positive hard-working attitude, with a high attention to detail and a strong ability to work under pressure. To be efficient, effective, and highly organised with the skillset to plan and prioritise your own time and workload. Essential to work as part of a strong team where communication, a positive attitude and embracing the need to collaborate is key. It’s also a developing role so a flexible approach to work is required with a desire for continuous learning, development, and improvement.

The effectiveness of the Logistics Department will significantly impact on profitability and thus long term survival of the business.

11. Physical Environment
You will be expected to work in both a general office and a shop floor environment.

**Salary**: £25,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
