Careers, Employability and Student Enterprise (CESE) is an essential part of the University, responsible for supporting our students and graduates to plan their future career paths and develop essential enterprising skills. It’s an exciting time to join the team as over the past year we have expanded from 35 to approximately 60 staff and are looking at opportunities for further targeting of and scaling up our activities in this area of work.

As Head of Employer Engagement and Knowledge Exchange, you will be responsible for the leadership, operational management and development of work experience, employer engagement, and all student knowledge exchange activity in CESE. You will oversee the development and implementation of an exemplary programme of activities and opportunities that enables students to develop and broaden their experience in preparation for their future careers.

You will work with external stakeholders, partners and organisations and co-ordinate with colleagues across the University involved in external engagement to broker and create opportunities for students. You will expand business engagement and develop external strategic relationships for the benefit of students and collaborate with the Student Enterprise team to maximise opportunities for students setting up their own businesses.

You will possess a skill level equivalent to achievement of a professional qualification or postgraduate degree You will have an in-depth knowledge of work experience and awareness/understanding of employer engagement and enterprise considerations, and significant experience within a relevant field, e.g. higher education careers and employability/graduate recruitment. You will have proven project and people management skills and an understanding of the wider strategic picture in relation to the impact of work experience and student knowledge exchange on students in HE and the graduate labour market.
